The village of Großsölk is located in the upper Ennstal ( Schladming judicial district ) in Styria. It has 485 inhabitants (as of October 31, 2013). As part of the municipal structural reform in Styria, it has merged with the municipalities of Kleinsölk and Sankt Nikolai in Sölktal from 2015 , the new municipality bears the name Sölk . The basis for this is the Styrian Municipal Structural Reform Act - StGsrG.

Großsölk is located in the Liezen district - Gröbming branch in the Austrian state of Styria . The village has been in the Sölktäler Nature Park since 1983 , which is one of the five Styrian nature parks.

There are no other cadastral communities apart from Großsölk. Localities are Stein an der Enns, Gatschberg and Großsölk.

history

Großsölk was the seat of a manor. The abolition of the manors took place in 1848; the local community as an autonomous body was established in 1850. After the annexation of Austria in 1938, the community came to Reichsgau Styria, from 1945 to 1955 it was part of the British zone of occupation in Austria.

The parish church standing isolated on a rock, which was rebuilt from a horse stable in 1730–1740, and the former Großsölker castle, built in the 15th and 16th centuries, which today houses the nature park house, are considered sights.

The Sölk storage power plant , built in 1978 and operated by Energie Steiermark (ESTAG), can also be found near Großsölk . It generates 206 GWh of electricity per year and can store 1,400,000 m³ of water.
