biography

Gronau was the son of a teacher. He attended the elementary school in Bremen- Rablinghausen , from 1934 the Bremen secondary school and from 1940 to 1943 the teacher training institute in Vechta. He was drafted in World War II , was a prisoner of war and returned to his homeland in 1948. Then he attended the State Art School in Bremen .

From 1950 Gronau was a freelance graphic artist and writer in Bremen, from 1961 graphic artist, art and craft teacher in Dorfmark and Syke. He was the founder of the monthly newspaper "Kiek in de Welt", which was published by the Plattdütschen Kring eV in Bremen. There and in other media he published numerous articles, illustrated titles and brochures, produced more than 100 radio programs on Radio Bremen, NDR and WDR and articles on Literaturtelefon Oldenburg and Lilienthal and designed a series of slides for teaching purposes ( museums in the Diepholz district ).

He provided the prose text for the Lower Saxony butcher plate (long-playing record from 1976), which was supposed to help prevent the impending district reform (fragmentation of the Grafschaft Hoya district and subsequent merger with the Grafschaft Diepholz district to form the new Diepholz district ).

For more than 30 years he has organized numerous readings of his own works throughout northern Germany and many slide shows using cross-fading technology on numerous study trips (including to the Benelux countries, Spain, France, Portugal, Tunisia, Lanzarote, La Gomera, La Palma and Cyprus) . His pictures have been shown in numerous exhibitions in Syke, Stuhr , Sulingen , Bremen , Walsrode , Etelsen, Nuremberg , Le Mans (F), Apeldoorn (NL).
