Hans Recknagel

Hans Recknagel (born May 8, 1938 in Altdorf near Nuremberg ; † November 18, 2010 ) was a German teacher and local history researcher and honorary city ​​archivist of Altdorf.

Life

Hans Recknagel attended the secondary school in Fürth and then studied German and theater studies from 1957 to 1963 at the Friedrich-Alexander University in Erlangen . After his studies he worked as a dramaturge at the Städtische Bühnen Nürnberg-Fürth and from 1964 to 1968 he also worked as a freelancer at the Studio Nürnberg of the Bavarian Broadcasting Corporation . He then entered the Bavarian school service and taught at the Wolfram-von-Eschenbach-Gymnasium in Schwabach, later in Hilpoltstein and finally at the Leibniz-Gymnasium in Altdorf. From 1976 to 1987 he worked in the ethics working group at the State Institute for School Education in Munich and in regional teacher training .

In 1991, as the successor to Konrad Lengenfelder, Recknagel took over the honorary management of the Altdorf City Archives and from then on was particularly committed to the expansion of the archive and the expansion of the archive holdings. Recknagel conducted local history research in the region, published about it in books, magazines and regional newspapers and gave numerous lectures. Several works on the history of the Altdorf town come from him. Even after he resigned from his archivist post in 2000, he continued to be active in local history research.

Recknagel was known as a connoisseur of the history of the former University of Altdorf and was the founding father and supervisor of the Altdorf University Museum , for which he developed the concept for structure and structure, procured and prepared exhibits, initiated a fundraising campaign to finance the museum and later initiated numerous special exhibitions. In addition, he was the initiator and co-founder of the Leibniz-Förderverein , the Friends of the Leibniz-Gymnasium and the Altdorfer Altstadtfreunde .
