Hans Schneider (born August 26, 1904 in St. Gallen ; † October 10, 1997 ibid), reformed , resident in Wilen , was a Swiss politician (FDP) .

biography

Hans Schneider, son of the mechanic and entrepreneur in the electrical industry Daniel Schneider and the Bertha Frida née Keller, graduated from the cantonal agricultural school in Cernier , followed by training as an agricultural technician and master farmer . He began his professional career as a farmer on farms in the cantons of Bern , Vaud , Friborg , Basel and Neuchâtel , in 1930 he took up a position as a works manager for arable farming and engineering at the agricultural school in Cernier, and in 1934 he moved to the cantonal psychiatric clinic in Wil as an estate manager , 1957 he quit his job. Schneider, who married Frida, the daughter of farmer Ulrich Rohner, in 1932, died in 1997 at the age of 93 in St. Gallen.

Political career

Hans Schneider - he joined the FDP - had been active in various agricultural organizations since 1935 before the people of St. Gallen elected him to the government council to succeed the outgoing Walter Clavadetscher . There he took over the management of the Department of Economic Affairs, in the years of office 1962/63 and 1969/70 he was head of the council as Landammann , in 1972 he resigned. In addition, from 1960 to 1972 he was Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Bodensee-Toggenburg Railway (BT). Hans Schneider's political commitment was particularly focused on agricultural education and the reorganization of his department.
