Hans Schwalbach

Hans Schwalbach (born August 9, 1919 in Leipzig ; † January 25, 2012 ) was a German trade unionist and politician ( SPD ).

Life

After completing secondary school, Schwalbach completed a commercial apprenticeship, which he completed in 1939 as a forwarding agent. After the end of the Second World War , he worked as an interpreter until 1947. From 1945 to 1948 he was honorary chairman of the DGB district Lüneburg-Dannenberg. In 1948 he became a full-time trade unionist as managing director of ÖTV Lüneburg. In 1949 he joined the SPD. In 1954 he became the deputy ÖTV district chairman for Schleswig-Holstein and northeast Lower Saxony .

1971 Schwalbach was the SPD land list in the state parliament of Schleswig-Holstein selected. In 1974 he took part in the 6th Federal Assembly. In 1975 he moved back into the state parliament and was a member of it until the end of the 1979 electoral term. He was a member of the Interior Committee and chairman of the Economic Committee.

Schwalbach was a member of the supervisory board of Nordwestdeutsche Kraftwerke and was in opposition to his party, which in 1976 demanded a construction freeze for the Brokdorf nuclear power plant . In this context he spoke of “ machine storming at the expense of the working population”. In 1977 he criticized the state executive of the SPD Schleswig-Holstein , which took the issue of nuclear energy against the unions and on the side of the citizens' initiatives against nuclear power, including their “destructive” forces.

As a member of the senior citizens' council in Kiel, Schwalbach dealt with violence against the elderly.

Schwalbach was married and had two children.
