Hans Ulrich Buhl (born August 10, 1955 in Esslingen am Neckar ) is a German economist .

Life

Hans Ulrich Buhl studied 1976-1981 Industrial Engineering at the University of Karlsruhe and "Industrial Engineering and Operations Research" at the University of California at Berkeley . In 1980 he graduated as a Master of Science in Berkeley and in 1981 he passed the examination for a degree in industrial engineering (computer science / OR) in Karlsruhe. Buhl received his doctorate there in 1982 and completed his habilitation in 1985 with work on the application of dynamic optimization to economic and business problems.

Buhl gained practical experience before his first appointment in 1990 as a professor at the Justus Liebig University in Gießen u. a. from 1984 to 1988 in the functions of finance and finance marketing at IBM Deutschland GmbH, Stuttgart, and from 1988 to 1990 as head of the projects and methods department in the area of ​​information systems and logistics.

Buhl has held the chair for business administration, business informatics, information and financial management since August 1994. Since 2002 he has also been the scientific director of the core competence center for finance and information management set up by the Bavarian State Chancellery . Since 2011 he has also been the scientific head of the business informatics project group at the Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Information Technology FIT in Augsburg and Bayreuth. In addition, he is the deputy managing director of the Institute for Materials Resource Management of the Mathematical-Natural-Scientific-Technical Faculty of the University of Augsburg .

Since it was founded in 1996, Hans Ulrich Buhl has worked as a lecturer, juror and liaison professor and, since 2011, as a member of the board of trustees at the Bavarian Elite Academy in Munich.

In addition, he is the lead scientist and chairman of the board of the elite network course in finance and information management at the Technical University of Munich , the University of Augsburg and the University of Bayreuth, which is funded by the Elitenetzwerk Bayern and several partners . From 2003 to 2013 Buhl acted as the spokesman for the “Finance & Information” cluster of the economics faculty of the University of Augsburg.

Buhl's main research areas are customer relationship management , value-based process management , integrated income and risk management, strategic IT management and energy and resource management.

Buhl was managing editor of the journals Wirtschaftsinformatik (2006–2014) and Business & Information Systems Engineering (2009–2014). He is co-editor of the Journal of the Association for Information Systems (JAIS), Journal of Strategic Information Systems (JSIS), and Electronic Markets .
