Hans Lenke , since 1896 von Lenke (born January 5, 1837 in Stettin , † October 26, 1917 in Wiesbaden ) was a Prussian general of the cavalry .

Life

He was a son of the Justice Council Sigismund Heinrich Lenke (1806–1864).

Lenke studied at the University of Bonn , where he a member of the Corps Hansea was, and entered 1858 as one-year volunteer in the 2nd Guards Regiment walk the Prussian army one. In 1859 he was second lieutenant in the 2nd Landwehr Regiment and in the following year transferred to the 2nd Pomeranian Uhlan Regiment . During the war against France in 1870/71 he was assigned to the General Staff of the 3rd Army and acquired the Iron Cross 1st Class. After the war he was employed in the General Staff for a long time . In 1878 he was commanded to exercise in an Italian cavalry division. In 1882 he became commander of the 2nd Rhenish Hussar Regiment No. 9 . From December 4, 1888, Lenke was in command of the 14th Cavalry Brigade in Düsseldorf and on May 22, 1889, he became major general . With his promotion to lieutenant general on January 27, 1892, he was appointed commander of the 19th division in Hanover . In this position he was awarded the star for the Order of the Red Eagle, 2nd class on January 24, 1894 with oak leaves and swords on the ring. Wilhelm II raised him to the hereditary Prussian nobility on January 18, 1896 .

On May 20, 1896, Lenke was put up for disposition with the statutory pension in approval of his resignation request. Lenke received on September 10, 1897 the character of general of the cavalry. He spent his retirement in Wiesbaden. After acknowledging his many years of service, he was awarded the Order of the Red Eagle First Class with Oak Leaves and Swords on the Ring on October 19, 1904.
