The Hanse Jet II is a catamaran that was used by the Förde Reederei Seetouristik from Hamburg in Heligoland until 2003 . The ship belongs to the type "FlyingCat 40", which was built by the Norwegian shipyard Kvaerner Fjellstrand with different equipment and partly with different data.

history

The ship was built as part of a series of identical ships under construction number 1644 at the Kvaerner Fjellstrand shipyard in Omastrand. The hull was supplied by Kvaerner Fjellstrand in Singapore ( hull number: 0032). The keel was laid in December 1996, the launch in March 1997. The ship was completed in May 1997.

The ship was delivered on May 12, 1997 to the White Fleet in Stralsund , which used it in the Baltic Sea primarily between Lübeck-Travemünde , Burgstaaken , Heiligenhafen and Warnemünde . From May 1998 the ship sailed for the Förde Reederei Seetouristik in Heligolandverkehr from Hamburg. From the summer of 1999 it was chartered to Channel Hoppers for one year and used between Jersey , Guernsey and Alderney .

In May 2000 the ship was renamed the Hanse Jet II . It was used from Hamburg to Heligoland until the end of May 2003 before it was replaced by the Halunder Jet . In July and August 2003 the ship was used again between Cuxhaven and Helgoland.

In October 2004, the ship was sold to the Greek shipping company Minoan Flying Dolphins, which was merged with the Hellenic Seaways shipping company in 2005. The ship, renamed Flyingcat 6 , is used by Hellenic Seaways between Volos or Agios Konstantinos and the Sporades and between Piraeus and the Saronic Islands .

Technical specifications

The drive of the ship by two sixteen-cylinder - diesel engines of manufacturer MTU (type: 16V396TE). The motors act on two water jet drives via reduction gears . The ship can reach up to 36  knots . Two diesel generator sets powered by two MTU diesel engines (type: 6R099TA) are available for power generation.
