Hansjörg Bitterlich (born May 4, 1923 in Šluknov ; † May 23, 1998 in St. Gallen ), pseudonym Bernhard Fugl , was an Austrian Roman Catholic father and abbot of the monastery of the Canon Regulars of the Holy Cross in Silz and co-founder of the Engelwerk and author .

Life

Hansjörg Bitterlich was born in 1923 in Šluknov (Schluckenau; Sudetenland) as the son of Hans and Gabriele Bitterlich and the younger brother of Roswitha Bitterlich . From 1928 to 1973 he lived with his family in Innsbruck . After World War II , he attended the seminary of the Diocese of Innsbruck and received on 30 May 1953, the priestly ordination . He became the first new abbot in the Order of Canon Regulars of the Holy Cross , which died out in 1903 and was revived in 1979 by members of the angel work founded by his mother.

After the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith forbade the use of his mother's alleged private revelations in 1992 , he vehemently protested this decision. He was then deposed as abbot and exclaustrated , after which he lived in Fusch on Großglocknerstrasse . During this time he wrote the book The Secret of the Cross under the pseudonym Bernhard Fugl . In 1997 he was in contact with the Islamic Gülen movement .

On May 23, 1998, he died in St. Gallen a heart attack after he had his Lippstädter publisher Claus Peter Clausen successfully commissioned the creation of the open on Gabriele Bitterlichs teachings based "angel covenant."
