Hanspeter Guggenbühl

Hanspeter Guggenbühl (* 1949 in Männedorf ; † May 26, 2021 in Vaud ) was a Swiss journalist and publicist who specialized in the fields of the environment, energy and transport.

life and career

Hanspeter Guggenbühl was born in Männedorf, grew up in Zurich and graduated from the Zurich Cantonal Commercial School with a diploma . He worked as an advertising copywriter for two years, after which he completed a traineeship at the newspaper Die Tat and from 1973 to 1974 worked as a local editor for the Badener Tagblatt .

From 1974 he worked as a freelance journalist for many Swiss daily and weekly newspapers, also regularly for south-eastern Switzerland . After a dispute, the Luzerner Zeitung ended its collaboration with him in 2017, as did all the NZZ regional titles such as the St. Galler Tagblatt .

From 2011 Guggenbühl was an author and member of the editorial board responsible for the Internet newspaper Infosperber , where he published over 600 articles. In addition to his articles, he became known through his book publications.

Guggenbühl lived with his partner in Illnau in the canton of Zurich . On May 26, 2021, he had a fatal accident while cycling in Vaud when a motorcyclist hit him. The Neue Zürcher Zeitung described him in an obituary as “one of the most recognized Swiss journalists for environmental and energy issues”.
