Harald Kuhlmann

Harald Kuhlmann (* 1943 ) is a German actor and playwright .

After his training at the Max Reinhardt School and his first engagements at the Josefstadt in Vienna and at the Schauspielhaus Zürich , Harald Kuhlmann was one of the founding members of the newly formed Schaubühne in Berlin in 1970 and played in productions by Peter Stein : The Mother , Peer Gynt , Optimistic Tragedy , Purgatory in Ingolstadt . In 1975 he became known to the cinema audience with the role of Moeding in Volker Schlöndorff's Die Lost Honor of Katharina Blum . Some film roles follow: as a dark man alongside Jörg Hubein Eberhard Hauff's Der Fall Bundhund (1976), as Jakob Degen and Tilo Prückner in Edgar Reitz 's Der Schneider von Ulm (1978), as Kurt Droste and Claude Jade in Gabi Kubach's Rendezvous in Paris (1981) and as Farraday alongside Armin Mueller- Stahl in Hajo Gies ' rest gently, Bruno (1983). Harald Kuhlmann played his last leading film role in 1986 alongside Rosel Zech in Diethard Klante's Deceived Love .

Harald Kuhlmann has been mainly active in the theater since then, on tour with Otto Sander , Edgar Selge and Walter Schmidinger at the Akademie der Künste, in the Schauspielhaus Zurich , in the Deutsches Theater Berlin, in Cologne and Stuttgart with Peter Weiss ' staged reading The Investigation ( 1988). Other stage roles include at the Schauspiel Frankfurt / Main in Shakespeare's Hamlet (Queen Gertrud), in Arthur Miller's witch hunt (Pastor Hale), at the Kölner Schauspiel in Goethe's Clavigo (Karlos) and at the Schauspielhaus Zürich in Maxim Gorki's Nachtasyl (Baron). On TV he plays a. a. in Ein Fall für Zwei , Der Fahnder and in film adaptations of stage plays, for example in 1977 for ZDF in Jürgen Flimm's production of Danton's death at the Deutsches Schauspielhaus Hamburg and in Brecht's Turandot or The Congress of White Washers (also directed by Flimm).

On the side, Harald Kuhlmann writes dramas and comedies in which he occasionally appears himself: Whitsun , premiered in 1981 at the Darmstadt State Theater ; Wishes and illnesses of the nomads , Schauspiel Frankfurt / Main 1987 (with Thomas Thieme ); Engelchens Sturmlied , Schauspielhaus Zürich 1993 (with Kuhlmann, Stephan Benson , Tilo Nest and Hans Dieter Zeidler in the leading roles, directed by Uwe Eric Laufenberg ); Jesabel's Revenge , State Theater Hannover 1997.

In 1986 he was awarded the Friedrich Schiller Memorial Prize of the State of Baden-Württemberg.

Harald Kuhlmann lives in Cologne. In the 2011/12 season he played the steward in Ariadne auf Naxos by Richard Strauss and Hugo von Hofmannsthal at the Cologne Opera , staged by Uwe Eric Laufenberg .
