Career

As a player

Harald Lückner started his career as an ice hockey player in his hometown in the youth department of Mariestad BoIS . From there he moved to Färjestad BK , for whose professional team he made his debut in the Elitserien , the newly founded top Swedish division, in the 1975/76 season . At Färjestad BK, the winger quickly developed into a leading player, whereupon he was selected in the 1977 WHA Amateur Draft in the seventh round as a total of 66th player by the Houston Eros . In addition, he chose the New York Islanders in the NHL Amateur Draft in 1977 out in the seventh round as a total of 121 players. However, since he was not signed by the Islanders the following year, he was the first player in the history of the National Hockey League to be drafted a second time. In the NHL Amateur Draft 1978 he was selected in the fourth round as a total of 56th player by the Vancouver Canucks , but he stayed again with his home club Färjestad BK, with which he won the Swedish championship in 1981, 1986 and 1988 respectively . In the 1988/89 season, the Swede was active as a player- coach for Sparta Sarpsborg from the top Norwegian league , before he ended his career as an active at the age of 32.
