Harro Miller (born April 22, 1940 in Chemnitz ) is a former German soccer player and coach.

Career as a player

Harro Miller began his career in Chemnitz (renamed Karl-Marx-Stadt in 1953) at SG Gablenz . In 1954 he joined BSG Motor West Karl-Marx-Stadt and came to SC Motor Karl-Marx-Stadt with their football section in 1958 . Between 1959 and 1963 he was active for the Army Sports Association Vorwärts Leipzig in the 2nd GDR League and in the 1st GDR League (1962/63 with 19 games and 3 goals).

At the beginning of the 1963/64 season , Miller returned to SC Karl-Marx-Stadt (now without the addition of "motor"), whose football team had played in the GDR Oberliga , the highest East German football class, for a year . The first league game he completed on the 4th game day, September 1, 1963. In the match between SC Leipzig - SC Karl-Marx-Stadt, he was used as the right runner . After that he was only used again in the second half of the season, commuting between defense and midfield in eight more point games. After his premier season in the major league Miller moved to the league competitor BSG Wismut Aue . There he was used in the season 1964/65 from the 5th day of play in 13 point games mainly in midfield. In the two seasons 1965/66 and 1966/67 he only played on two matchdays in the league. 1967/68 Miller played from the 10th game day in 12 games on the libero position. There he was usually used in his last league season 1968/69 , in which he had actually made the breakthrough to a regular player with 24 point games.

After 62 appearances in the major league (9 for SC Karl-Marx-Stadt, 53 for Wismut Aue) Miller moved to the second-rate GDR league club BSG Stahl Eisenhüttenstadt for the 1969/70 season , where he ended his career as a footballer in 1973.

Career as a coach

The qualified sports teacher began his career as a coach in 1973 at FC Vorwärts Frankfurt in the youth team, then as an assistant to the league team. When he moved to Leipzig in 1978 to join the first division club 1. FC Lokomotive Leipzig , his most successful time as a football coach began by far. As early as 1979 he was there "responsible senior division coach" and held this position for six years. He formed a successful team that won bronze medals in the GDR soccer championship in 1982 and 1984 and the GDR soccer cup in 1981 . 1. FC Lok completed a total of 20 European Cup games under Miller's direction and achieved the quarter-finals of the 1981/82 European Cup Winners' Cup as their best result. It was only there that the Leipzig team were eliminated from FC Barcelona with 0: 3 and 2: 1.

1985 took over Miller in the East German Football Association together with Wilfried Gröbner the East Germany Olympic football team , but failed to qualify for the football tournament at the Olympic Games in Seoul . In 1988/89 he was a trainer for one season at the GDR league club Forward Dessau. In 1989 and 1990 Miller worked at the Leipzig Science Center.

After German reunification in 1990, Miller only received offers from lower-class clubs. Most recently he worked for VfL Halle in 1896 (1995–1997, Oberliga), FC Anhalt Dessau (1998–2000, Oberliga), ATSV Wurzen (2000/01, Landesliga) and SSV Markranstädt (2005/06, Oberliga).
