Harry Blümel

Harry Blümel (born June 27, 1964 in Vienna ) is an Austrian singer , presenter and entertainer . From 1977 to 1989 he was active as a cyclist .

Cycling

As a cyclist, Harry Blümel rode in teams with Leo Karner, Franz Spilauer, Kurt Zellhofer, Herbert Spindler , Helmut Wechselberger , Bernhard Rassinger , Armin Purner , Mario Traxl and his brother Andreas Blümel and was part of the Austrian national cycling team from 1981 to 1989.

In 1985 Blümel was national champion in the Ferry Dusika Stadium in Vienna in the 4,000 meter team pursuit with Franz Gantioler, Herbert Spindler and Bernhard Rassinger, in 1987 in Donnerskirchen national champion in the 100 km team time trial with Helmut Wechselberger, Bernhard Rassinger and Andreas Blümel, in 1988 in Voitsberg national champion in the team time trial with Mario Traxl, Wolfgang Höfer and Andreas Blümel.

Another national championship title was revoked from Harry Blümel in 1985 at the road race in Aflenz due to a highly controversial decision by the race management. As the winner, he crossed the finish line with a jubilant free-hand lead with a lead of around 30 meters over his former teammates Bernhard Rassinger and Herbert Spindler, which at the time was only allowed with a lead of more than 100 meters in road races in Austria. Harry Blümel was then moved to third place - behind Rassinger and Spindler.

Harry Blümel competed in the Tour of Austria in 1984, 1985, 1986, 1988 and wore the jersey of the Austrian national team for the last time on the Tour of Lower Saxony in 1989.

Moderator, journalist and singer

From 1989 Harry Blümel worked as a presenter and journalist . In 2002 he also appeared as a singer. In 2003 he released his first song Radlfoan after he had only sung cover versions with oldies by Elvis Presley , Dean Martin and Roy Black . A music video clip of the song Radlfoan was later produced and published. Blümel recorded several CDs; Among other things, he presented a CD with modern English-language Christmas carols in 2002 under the title Swingin 'Santa .

The songs were released from July to September 2007 in collaboration with the Viennese composer and music producer Chris Duchatschek (including Sound of Vienna , Solo por ti , Con esperanza )

In April 2011 the songs Sommer am Neusiedler See and Sommer am Starnberger See were released, versions by Cuando sali de Cuba (music and lyrics: Picca Luis Maria Aguilera) with German lyrics by Harry Blümel, who also acted as a singer.

In 2013 Harry Blümel composed and wrote the Lower Austria Waltz . The CD with Blümel as a singer was presented on October 10, 2013 together with Lower Austria's governor Erwin Pröll .
