legend

The field name Am Markstein is located south of the Hartlspitz in Lower Austria .

According to the Hochwolkersdorf legend, "The Three Markstones", many years ago a magnificent castle stood on the back of the Rosaliengebirge. The owner's name was Mrs. Myrna and was known throughout the area for her helpfulness. One day, predatory Hungarians besieged the castle. With the help of her servants, the castle lady managed to escape during the night and to get to safety. The Magyars invaded the castle and looked for money and jewelry. But they found nothing, for Mrs. Myrna had given everything to the poor. Filled with anger, the Hungarians set fire to the castle and tore down the walls. Only three grass-overgrown landmarks next to the road are reminiscent of the castle.
