Hartmut Dierschke

Hartmut Dierschke (born July 11, 1937 in Groß Ladtkeim) is a retired German vegetation expert and university professor.

His specialties are the vegetation of Central Europe, u. a. the syntaxonomy ( Taxonomy of the plant associations ), the Symphänologie (vegetation rhythm) and Syndynamik (vegetation development), the biomonitoring (continuous observation) and the regeneration or conservation.

Life

Dierschke studied botany , zoology , geography and chemistry at the universities of Göttingen , Freiburg im Breisgau and Kiel from 1958 to 1965 . During his studies he worked as a research assistant at the Federal Institute for Vegetation Mapping in Stolzenau an der Weser from 1961 .

1965 doctorate he in Goettingen Dr. rer. nat. with a work on the natural structure of the Verden Geest . At the end of 1965 he passed the first state examination , also in Göttingen .

From 1966 to 1968 he worked as a research assistant in the “Laboratory for Theoretical and Applied Plant Sociology ” in Todenmann near Rinteln, headed by Reinhold Tüxen . From 1968 to September 2002 Dierschke worked at the Georg-August-Universität, initially as a research assistant at the Systematic-Geobotanical Institute under the direction of the then professor for geobotany , Heinz Ellenberg .

In 1973 Dierschke completed his habilitation on plant communities on the edge of forests.

In 1974 he became an academic councilor , and the following year he became an academic senior councilor. In 1976 he received an extraordinary professorship , which in 1980 led to a full professorship. In 1987 Dierschke was visiting professor at the Pedagogical University of East China in Shanghai . From 1997 to 2002 he headed the Department of Vegetation Science and Population Biology at the “Albrecht von Haller Institute for Plant Sciences” at the University of Göttingen.

Hartmut Dierschke is editor of the specialist journals Tuexenia and Synopsis of the Plant Societies in Germany , member of the editorial boards of the reports of the Reinhold Tüxen Society , Geobotanical Colloquium (Frankfurt), Göttinger Naturkundliche Schriften , Hercynia and Phytocoenologia .
