Hartmut Keil (born 1978 in Wesel ) is a German conductor .

Life

Keil was engaged at the Mainfranken Theater in Würzburg during his conducting studies . There he conducted a. a. Rossini's Barber of Seville . In 2002 he was hired by the Frankfurt Opera as a solo répétiteur , and from 2004 he also took on conducting. Since then he has developed a broad repertoire as Kapellmeister at this house, which includes all the great Mozart operas and extends to contemporary works - including Humperdinck's Hansel and Gretel , Puccini's Le Villi , La Bohème and Tosca , and Offenbach's Les contes d'Hoffmann , Wagner's Lohengrin and Ariadne auf Naxos by Hugo von Hofmannsthal and Richard Strauss . Hartmut Keil has been a regular guest at the Bregenz Festival since 2013 , initially for two summers as the conductor of Die Zauberflöte on the lake stage . In 2015 he took over the musical direction of Così fan tutte in the Theater am Kornmarkt (with soloists from the Bregenz Opera Studio) and the Austrian premiere of the Golden Dragon by Roland Schimmelpfennig and Péter Eötvös . This production took place with the Ensemble Modern , in coproduction with the Frankfurt Opera . In 2016 he will conduct Mozart's Don Giovanni in Bregenz - again with soloists from the Bregenz Opera Studio .

There is a continuous cooperation with the Ensemble Modern , with whom he is developing the world premiere of Arnulf Herrmanns Wasser and a. in Amsterdam and at the Munich Biennale . In May 2015, Keil made his debut at the Theater Basel , where he conducted Daphne von Richard Strauss and later Khovanshchina .

Keil has conducted concerts with the Brandenburg State Orchestra Frankfurt / Oder, the Staatskapelle Halle (in the Berlin Konzerthaus), the Stuttgart Ensemble Ascolta and as a guest conductor at the theaters in Kassel, Bonn, Münster and Heidelberg. He now works as a freelance conductor.
