The house on Marktplatz 9

The house at Marktplatz 9 , also called the Golden Goose , is a monument , a restaurant and a former brewery within the listed old town of the Middle Franconian town of Weißenburg in Bavaria . The building is halfway between the Spitalkirche and the Schweppermannsbrunnen . Diagonally opposite is the house on Marktplatz 6 .

history

The history of the Marktplatz 9 building is very closely related to the neighboring building Marktplatz 11. The building was probably rebuilt in 1792 by Georg David Preu. The former inn is a three-storey late baroque building with a mansard hipped roof . The structure and the entire ground floor are made of natural stone . The building has a front staircase . On the front of the building hangs the coat of arms of the Preu family and a golden goose , which reminds of the name of the restaurant and brewery.
