The house on Marktplatz 2 is a listed commercial building in Pleinfeld , a market town in the Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen district in Central Franconia . The building is registered under the monument number D-5-77-161-24 as an architectural monument in the Bavarian monument list. The building is also called the Alte Post.

The building stands on the market square between the confluence of Mühlstrasse and Brückenstrasse at a height of 375 meters above sea level . The building is a three-storey, massive gable roof in a corner position from the end of the 17th century with a two-storey extension with a hipped roof and half-timbered upper storey from the 19th century. Above the entrance on the front side of the building there is a figure of Mary with Joseph and the baby Jesus. From 1945 lessons for some of the seven classes of the Pleinfeld elementary school were held in the dining room hall, as the school building was destroyed in a bomb attack. The Marktplatz 2 building was renovated in the 1990s. The building is used as a commercial building and currently houses a pharmacy, a restaurant and a doctor's office as well as an apartment on the top floor; In the past there was a post office, a butcher's shop, an inn and an engineering office in the building.
