Haustadt is a district of the community Beckingen in the Merzig-Wadern district ( Saarland ). House town was an independent municipality until the end of 1973. Haustadt is the namesake of the Haustadter valley , which, following the course of the Mackenbach and the Mühlenbach, connects the Beckingen districts of Oppen , Reimsbach , Honzrath , Haustadt and Beckingen.
history
House town was first mentioned in 1147 under the name Hustat . However, the first evidence of the settlement of the Haustadter valley goes back to the Bronze Age . At the time of the Roman Empire, an important traffic artery ran through the place.
As part of the regional and administrative reform in Saarland , the previously independent community of Haustadt was assigned to the then newly formed community of Beckingen on January 1, 1974 and has since been a district and a district.
politics
In the 2014 local council elections, the CDU received 62.1%, the SPD 24.0% and the Left 13.9% of the vote. The CDU thus provides the mayor.
Attractions
The " Wolferskopf Nature Park " is one of the largest nature reserves in southwest Germany. It is home to over 450 different plant species, including 34 endangered nationwide. Among them is the Missed Orchid .
Personalities
- Theologian Johannes Reiter was born in Haustadt in 1944. He was appointed to the International Theological Commission by Pope John Paul II in 2004 and worked several times as an advisor to the Federal Government and the Bundestag in the field of medical ethics .
- The parapsychologist Johannes Mischo (1930-2001) also came from Haustadt .
