Düppenweiler ( in the local, Moselle-Franconian dialect Deppeweller ) is a district (municipality) of the municipality of Beckingen in the Merzig-Wadern district ( Saarland ). Until the end of 1973, Düppenweiler was an independent municipality. Düppenweiler is the largest municipality in Beckingen in terms of area.

geography

location

The place is away from the Haustadter valley on the Kondeler Bach . The main part of the village lies on this brook, only a small part is 1.6 km from the center on the Litermont .

climate

The annual precipitation is 832 mm and is thus in the upper third of the values recorded by the measuring points of the German Weather Service . 69% indicate lower values. The driest month is April; it rains most in December. In the wettest month there is around 1.5 times more rain than in the driest month. The seasonal fluctuations in precipitation are in the lower third. In only 16% of all places, the monthly precipitation fluctuates less.

history

The village was first mentioned in a document in 1052 under the name Villari . The name Düppenweiler appears for the first time in 1335 as Duppinwillre . Excavations confirm that the part of the word Düppen can be traced back to a former pottery, which is why the residents proudly refer to themselves as "Topfstädter".

Up until the Thirty Years' War, many residents lived in the so-called "Old Village" near today's Valentinus Chapel. When the Swedish and French troops moved through, the place of origin was razed. Eventually, the people all settled in today's Düppenweiler (on the Kondeler Bach) north of the Litermont.

After the French Revolution the church Düppenweiler came to the French Mairie Hüttersdorf in Canton Lebach and 1816 finally to the Prussian mayor Haustadt .

As part of the regional and administrative reform in Saarland , the previously independent community of Düppenweiler was assigned to the then newly formed community of Beckingen on January 1, 1974 and has been a district of the Beckingen community since then.

Mayor since 1974: Eduard Schmutz, SPD (1974 - 1984), Erhard Seger, CDU (7/1984 - 11/2003), Günter Witte CDU (12/2003 - 7/2004), Thomas Ackermann CDU (7/2004 - today ).

Since the 1960s, the settlement area of Düppenweiler has been greatly enlarged by the development of several new building areas (Josefstrasse, Im Junkerath I and II, Auf dem Gehren, Auf dem Langenfelde, In dem Erbsengarten I and II, Zum Wilscheider Hof).

From 1985 to 1993, the town center was redesigned in several construction phases with funds from urban development funding. The culture and sports hall was built in 1998.

The St. Valentin primary school is responsible for the villages of Düppenweiler, Haustadt and Honzrath.
