Hayna is a district of the town of Schkeuditz in the northern Saxony district .

geography

Hayna is located in the Leipzig lowland bay on the north-western edge of Leipzig . In the east of the town lies the Schladitzer See , which was created as a result of the renaturation of the Delitzsch-Südwest / Breitenfeld opencast mine .

history

Until 1815, Hayna was part of the Saxon offices of Leipzig (exclave) and Schkeuditz . As a result of the resolutions of the Congress of Vienna , the place became part of Prussia and was assigned to the Delitzsch district in the Merseburg administrative district of the province of Saxony in 1816, to which it belonged until 1952. In the course of the district reform in the GDR in 1952, Hayna was assigned to the newly tailored Delitzsch district in the Leipzig district, which was added to the Delitzsch district in 1994 .

On July 1, 1973, Hayna was incorporated into Radefeld . On March 1, 1994, this was merged with Freiroda and Wolteritz to form the new municipality of Radefeld. Since January 1, 1999, the municipality of Radefeld has belonged to the town of Schkeuditz, which was moved to the district of Delitzsch, so Hayna has been part of this town since then.

The opening of the Breitenfeld opencast mine in 1982 changed the landscape around Hayna drastically. To the north of the village, the opencast mine of the Breitenfeld open-cast mine, which is directly to the east, was built. After the early closure of the Breitenfeld opencast mine in 1991, the renaturation of this area began. It was originally planned that the opencast mine would also have occupied the area south of Hayna, Radefeld and Freiroda by 2005. Due to the flooding of the open pit, Hayna is now on the west bank of the Schladitzer See.

The Haynaer Strandverein e. V. is developing the beach on its bank into the " Biedermeier Beach ".

traffic

Hayna is located north of the federal motorway 14 (Dresden - Magdeburg) near the Schkeuditzer Kreuz . The motorway junctions 21 Schkeuditz and 22 Leipzig-Nord can be reached quickly from the Hayna location . Leipzig / Halle Airport is to the west of Hayna .

Between 1929 and 1970 the place was connected to the Delitzscher Kleinbahn via the “Radefeld-Hayna” stop .
