The street village Radefeld is located northeast of the Schkeuditz city center. The districts of Hayna, Freiroda, Gerbisdorf and Wolteritz belong to Radefeld.
history
The first establishment of a settlement goes back to the 12th century, which suggests the construction of a defense tower to protect against attacks by the Slavs. Radefeld is mentioned in sources from 1350 as Radefeldt and Rodevelt . In 1378 Radefeld is mentioned as belonging to the Castrum Delitzsch . Around 1471 a knight seat is mentioned in the place. Later Radefeld, which is also found in sources with this spelling for the first time in 1791, and its later associated localities Freiroda, Gerbisdorf and Wolteritz belonged to the Electoral Saxon office of Delitzsch . After the Congress of Vienna , the places were assigned to the Delitzsch district in the Merseburg administrative district of the province of Saxony from 1816, to which they belonged until 1952.
In 1952, as part of the GDR district reform , Radefeld was assigned to the Delitzsch district in the Leipzig district, which was added to the Delitzsch district in 1994 . 1973 Hayna was incorporated. In 1994 Radefeld merged with Freiroda and Wolteritz to form a rural community which was incorporated into Schkeuditz on January 1, 1999. However, part of the place was separated and Leipzig was incorporated.
Attractions
The Protestant parish church of St. Nikolaus is located in Radefeld. The hall church with a transverse west tower dates from the 13th or 14th century.
