history

Dölzig was formed in 1915 from Groß- and Kleindölzig. The eastern part of Kleindölzig was first mentioned in 1182 with a manor house, Großdölzig in the west in the 13th century. Groß- und Kleindölzig belonged to the Hochstiftlich-Merseburgischen office of Schkeuditz until 1815, like Kleinliebenau , which had been under Electoral Saxon sovereignty since 1561 and belonged to the Secondogenitur - Principality of Saxony-Merseburg between 1656/57 and 1738 .

Through the resolutions of the Congress of Vienna , Kleinliebenau and the western part of the Schkeuditz office were ceded to Prussia in 1815. Groß- und Kleindölzig remained with the eastern part of the Kingdom of Saxony and were incorporated into the Leipzig district office. From 1856 they belonged to the Markranstädt court office and from 1875 to the Leipzig District Administration . In 1915, Groß- and Kleindölzig merged to form the municipality of Dölzig. During the district reform in the GDR, the place was assigned to the Leipzig-Land district in the Leipzig district in 1952 , which became part of the Leipziger Land district in 1994 .

In 1957, the town of Kleinliebenau , located about 2 km to the northwest, and in 1973, the town of Priesteblich, about 3 km to the south, was incorporated. In 1994, together with Burghausen and Rückmarsdorf, the municipality of Bienitz was founded as part of the Leipziger Land district. In 2000 this community was dissolved and Dölzig together with Kleinliebenau was reclassified to Schkeuditz in the district of Delitzsch , now the district of North Saxony. The district Priesteblich was assigned to Markranstädt in the district of Leipziger Land (now district of Leipzig ).

Tunnel of the B 186 under the Elster-Saale Canal

The B 181 and B 186 intersect at the south-west corner of the village. About 1 km west of this intersection is a junction with the A 9, which facilitated the creation of an industrial park west of the village. The air rescue center of ADAC Luftrettung GmbH was opened in the industrial park in 2007 with two helicopters for the Leipzig region and southern Saxony-Anhalt.

The Nova shopping center in Günthersdorf is just behind the motorway .

Gravel was extracted between Dölzig and Kleinliebenau.

The place is connected by buses with Leipzig, Schkeuditz, Markranstädt, Günthersdorf and Merseburg .

On the former Merseburg – Leipzig railway line , Dölzig had a stop north of the canal until it was closed in 1998 . The railway line is to be expanded as a cycle path.
