history

Plaque in memory of the castle

Until 1815, Günthersdorf belonged to the Schkeuditz Office of Merseburg , which had been under Electoral Saxon sovereignty since 1561 and belonged to the secondary school principality of Saxony-Merseburg between 1656/57 and 1738 . A plaque on a gate pillar reminds that the castle, which was demolished in 1770, was built in 1540. Negotiations on the peace in Altranstadt were conducted in it.

Due to the resolutions of the Congress of Vienna , Günthersdorf and the western part of the Schkeuditz office were ceded to Prussia in 1815. In the new political order of Prussia, the village was in 1816 the county Merseburg in the administrative district of Merseburg of the Province of Saxony assigned to which he belonged until 1,952th During the district reform in the GDR in 1952, Günthersdorf was assigned to the Merseburg district in the Halle district, which came to the Merseburg-Querfurt district in 1994 and to the Saale district in 2007 .

From 2006 to 2009 Günthersdorf was part of the Leuna-Kötzschau administrative community . The formerly independent community was incorporated into the city of Leuna on December 31, 2009 . The last mayoress of Günthersdorf was Marianne Riemeyer.

badges and flags

Blazon : "In silver, three blue oak leaves placed in a triple pass, one acorn each on the right and left."

Günthersdorf used to have a picture seal, the seal picture of which represented a leafy oak branch with acorns. This symbolism refers to the Kaiser Wilhelm oak planted on March 22, 1896, which is the town's landmark and in honor of which a village festival was celebrated on the occasion of the 100th anniversary.

The community decided on October 18, 1995 to include the oak leaves and acorns in the town's coat of arms. Since the traditional colors of the municipality are blue and white, the oak leaves and acorns have been tinged blue.

The coat of arms was designed by the Magdeburg municipal heraldist Jörg Mantzsch and included in the approval process.

The Günthersdorf flag shows the colors blue and white with the coat of arms placed in the middle.
