history

Zweimen, Dölkau and Göhren belonged until 1815 to the Schkeuditz office of Merseburg , which had been under Electoral Saxon sovereignty since 1561 and belonged to the secondary school principality of Saxony-Merseburg between 1656/57 and 1738 .

Due to the resolutions of the Congress of Vienna , Zweimen, Dölkau and Göhren with the western part of the Schkeuditz office were ceded to Prussia in 1815. In the new political order Prussia they were in 1816 the county Merseburg in the administrative district of Merseburg of the Province of Saxony allocated to which they belonged to the 1952nd On July 1, 1950 Dölkau was incorporated with Göhren to Zweimen.

During the district reform in the GDR, Zweimen and its districts were assigned to the Merseburg district in the Halle district in 1952 , which came to the Merseburg-Querfurt district in 1994 and to the Saale district in 2007 . From 2006 to 2009 Zweimen was part of the Leuna-Kötzschau administrative community . Until December 30, 2009 Zweimen was an independent municipality with the associated districts of Dölkau and Göhren. On December 31, 2009, Zweimen was incorporated into the city of Leuna . The last mayor of Zweimens was Helmut Rode.

The Dölkau Castle, once the seat of the Counts of Hohenthal , a children's home in the GDR era, is now operated as an event center.

Blazon : "In red a silver diagonal right bar, accompanied by silver diagonal linden leaves (1: 2)."

The design of a coat of arms for the municipality of Zweimen was commissioned by the municipal council in May 1995 in order to have an officially approved coat of arms in accordance with the rules of heraldry as the emblem of the place in the seal , possibly on the flag and in other uses .

There is no evidence that the municipality of Zweimen has had a coat of arms in its history. The municipality decided to wear the coat of arms of the von Zweymen and von Zweimen families, who had once lived in the village, or to refer to the family coat of arms with the local coat of arms .

In the case of the von Zweymen family coat of arms, there is the confusing fact that it was identical to the von Kötschau coat of arms . We learn from the Siebmacher : “Von Zweymen. An old noble family of the Merseburg Monastery , where its ancestral seat of the same name is also located, in the nobility lexiography, partly not treated at all, partly quite inadequately . At times, especially in the 17th century, it was very widespread and not insignificant, and several times wealthy. ”In 1290, Heinrich vom Zweymen is documented as the first ancestor; the family died out in the 18th century. The coat of arms of the von Zweymen is described: "Red with silver green with three lime leaves upwards occupied oblique right bar." (Siebmacher: armorial, 6th band Extinct Prussian nobility, Province of Saxony, Nuremberg 1884) About the of Kötschau says Siebmacher: "In the Aristocratic lexiography is the greatest confusion regarding the von Kötzschau families, of which there were three different ones in the Merseburg Abbey ... The heraldry of the sex is very variable. "

The coats of arms relatives von Kotzschen or von Kötschau had a silver diagonal bar covered with three green linden leaves in the red shield. The helmet is crowned and equipped with 10 black cock feathers. The helmet covers are silver and red. A tribal relationship is not yet proven.

Since at the time the coat of arms was found for Zweimen, the municipality of Kötzschau already had the above. Wearing a coat of arms in its representation and tinging and a duplication is not possible, the municipality of Zweimen connects to the old Zweymenschen shield and uses its elements in a different arrangement and tincture.

The Magdeburg local heraldist Jörg Mantzsch realized this order and introduced the coat of arms into the approval process.
