Pissen is a district of the village Rodden in the city of Leuna in the Saalekreis in Saxony-Anhalt .

Place name

The origin of the place name is from the Old Sorbian term pšeno , which means millet or wheat . This indicates a particularly fertile soil.

location

The L 185 runs through the village and the A 9 to the east of the village . To the northeast lies the town of Rodden and to the west is the town of Witzschersdorf .

history

Pissing was first mentioned in a document in 1206. The traces of settlement point to an older Rundling village of the Wends . The local church is said to have been built in the 10th century and is considered one of the first Christian churches in the region. In the 16th century a school building was mentioned in the village. During the Thirty Years War the place was largely devastated.

In 1734 a new rectory was built . The tower of the church had to be dismantled for numerous repairs from 1753 to 1755 and was rebuilt after its completion. In 1823 the place received a new school building. On July 1, 1950, Pissen was incorporated into Rodden. School operations were stopped after the completion of the central school in Kötzschau in Pissen in 1952 and a day-care center moved into the building, which was closed in 1976.

Since January 1st, 2010, Pissen has belonged to the city of Leuna together with Rodden.
