history

Until 1815, Kötzschlitz, Möritzsch and Zschöchergen belonged to the Schkeuditz Office of Merseburg , which had been under Electoral Saxon sovereignty since 1561 and belonged to the secondary school principality of Saxony-Merseburg between 1656/57 and 1738 . As a result of the resolutions of the Congress of Vienna , Kötzschlitz, Möritzsch and Zschöchergen and the western part of the Schkeuditz office were ceded to Prussia in 1815. In the new political order Prussia they were in 1816 the county Merseburg in the administrative district of Merseburg of the Province of Saxony allocated to which they belonged to the 1952nd

On October 26, 1937, as part of the Germanization of place names, the spelling Kötzschlitz was changed to Kötschlitz . On July 1, 1950, Möritzsch and Zschöchergen were incorporated into Kötschlitz. During the district reform in the GDR in 1952, Kötschlitz was assigned to the Merseburg district in the Halle district, which came to the Merseburg-Querfurt district in 1994 and to the Saale district in 2007 . On October 1, 1965, the previously independent neighboring communities Horburg and Maßlau were incorporated. On May 6, 1990 they were released into self-employment as the Horburg-Maßlau community .

From 2006 to 2009 Kötschlitz was part of the Leuna-Kötzschau administrative community . Until December 30, 2009, Kötschlitz was an independent municipality with the associated districts of Möritzsch and Zschöchergen. On December 31, 2009, Kötschlitz was incorporated into the city of Leuna . The last mayor of the municipality of Kötschlitz was Andreas Stolle.

badges and flags

Kötschlitzer coat of arms

Blazon : "In gold between two blue flanks three sinking red-armored blue falcons in stakes."

The municipality of Kötschlitz comprised three villages that were previously independent. These are Kötschlitz, Zschöchergen and Möritzsch. In the local literature and descriptions of the 19th century it is mentioned that the region was home to many falcons, which had ideal hunting and living conditions in the extensive meadows and fields. There were and are numerous headwaters. The three villages mentioned are therefore symbolized as three falcons in the municipal coat of arms. The blue flanks in the shield represent the water.

The coat of arms was designed in 2000 by the Magdeburg municipal heraldist Jörg Mantzsch and included in the approval process.

Kötschlitz carries a blue and yellow striped flag with the coat of arms placed in the middle.
