The bus traffic in Leipzig is carried out by Leobus GmbH (own spelling LeoBus GmbH ), a 100% subsidiary of Leipziger Verkehrsbetriebe (LVB) GmbH, and thus complements local traffic in Leipzig . In addition to inner-city traffic, there are also some inter-city bus routes to the neighboring districts. With line 131, a line even crosses the state border to Saxony-Anhalt . With around 160 buses, up to 36 lines are operated daily, including six “city bus lines” with frequent tram intervals, while nine so-called “nightliner” lines open up the city area at night. The operating performance in 2009 was 11.0 million kilometers of commercial vehicles. On October 10, 2010, the Leipziger Verkehrsbetriebe (LVB) GmbH introduced a restructured bus network in the city of Leipzig, which was marketed under the slogan Network 2010 - Simply more buses . At the 2013/14 timetable change, the regional traffic in the western part of the Leipzig district, which had previously been operated mainly by Leobus, was transferred to the district's own PVM (today: Regionalbus Leipzig), so that the service area has since been largely limited to the city of Leipzig and immediately adjacent places.

Line names

For bus traffic in Leipzig and the surrounding area, route numbers 60 to 199 have been set since 1997; previously the city bus routes were designated with letters and the regional bus routes with two or three-digit route numbers. Purely inner-city lines have two-digit line numbers, regional bus lines correspondingly three-digit. Within the city of Leipzig, the tens digit of the line number also gives a rough assignment to the area of use of the line. The "60s" lines run mainly in the west of the city, the "70s" lines, on the other hand, in the east and southeast, while lines in the "80s" number group are mainly found in the north and northeast. Since the introduction of the new bus network on October 10, 2010, a basic distinction has been made between city bus lines and regional bus lines, but a total separation between city and regional bus is not possible, as city bus lines also perform regional transport tasks in the further course of the route (e.g. the line 75), on the other hand, individual three-digit lines only or most of their route in the city of Leipzig (e.g. lines 130 and 162).

Lines 60, 65, 70, 74, 80 and 90 are also known as “city bus lines” (in the sense of Metrobus lines ) and have an outstanding position within the bus network. They basically run in time with the tram lines and run as tangential lines across the radial tram network, thus ensuring cross connections between the tram lines. On individual sections, they are supplemented by other bus routes in order to ensure a correspondingly more frequent cycle. In the route network map, they are shown in a light purple, based on the Germany-wide bus symbol. Lines 81 and 82 are also shown in this color, as they always run on the city bus line 80 during carriage throughput. Lines 72 and 73 as well as 89 also touch the city center and meet at the central transfer station Hauptbahnhof. They are therefore shown in dark purple in the route network map, corresponding to the bus symbol. All other lines are shown in gray in the network map.

City bus routes (60, 65, 70, 74, 80, 90)

Bus route 60
  • Line 60 connects the Lindenau Dunckerviertel with the Reudnitz district and crosses the city from west to east as a southern bypass. The most important points along line 60 are the S-Bf. Plagwitz, the southern Auwald including the racecourse , the Südvorstadt , the Bayerische Bahnhof as well as the Leipzig University Hospital and the Leipzig Brewery in Reudnitz . It ends in the east of Leipzig in a loop ride on Lipsiusstrasse. At the weekend, some trips on line 60 at the Lindenau bus station are linked with line 80 to Thekla in the early hours. Articulated buses are used daily on route 60 for day-to-day traffic, with the Hess hybrid buses being preferred here. Line 60 (at that time still called Line A) operated as a trolleybus and usually with a sidecar until 1975 ; In popular parlance, the term “A-Bus” can still be heard today, based on its line designation until 1997. Line 60 is the busiest line of all bus lines, and line 74 will be added to it in Südvorstadt and along Schleußiger Weg, so that both bus lines run every five minutes. As early as the 1920s, the conversion of this line, which was designated with the tram line number 25 at the time, to tram operation was planned on this section of the route. During the construction of the Paußnitz Bridge in the 1920s, the first tracks were laid in the bridge area, but the onset of the global economic crisis stopped the implementation of the project. The conversion of this line, which in the middle section together with the reinforcement line I, previously A E , had the densest wagon sequence in the entire LVB network, was also topical again in the 1980s, but has not been carried out until today, although on the central route via Antonienstraße, Schleußiger Weg, Kurt-Eisner-Straße and Semmelweisstraße will continue to be kept free in the land use plans. On lines 60, 70, 80 and 90, boarding is permitted from Monday to Friday from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. at all doors due to the high demand. On the other lines and at other times, the driver is boarded and the tickets must be shown.
  • Line 65 runs from the town of Markranstädt to the town of Markkleeberg and crosses the Leipzig urban area via Miltitz , Grünau , Schönau and Großzschocher . It is the only line that touches the Cospudener See every day . It is also one of the two city bus routes that run through three cities and thus through three MDV zones . Line 65 runs Monday to Friday on the core section between Markranstädt and Großzschocher, Anton-Zickmantel-Straße every ten minutes, onward to Markkleeberg only every 20 minutes. Saturdays are driven every 15/30 minutes, while on Sundays there is only a 30-minute cycle over the entire length of the route. Mainly normal buses are used here, only on weekdays the school traffic ensures a partial use of articulated buses. It has been replacing the S3 S-Bahn line between Plagwitz and Gaschwitz since December 2001, after it had lost most of its users in the previous years due to an unfriendly timetable and tariff structure.
The important tangential lines in the network are served every ten minutes and during peak hours - as here on line 70 in Reudnitz, Riebeckstraße - with articulated buses. Most of the MB O530 Citaro (Silver Arrow) have now been replaced by Solaris Urbino 18.
  • Line 70 begins in Markkleeberg West and follows the old route of tram line 9 over Koburger Straße to Connewitzer Kreuz. From the cross, line 70 continues tangentially in the south past the old exhibition grounds via the eastern districts of Reudnitz and Schönefeld to the northeast industrial area and further via the northern prefabricated building areas in Thekla and Mockau to the Mockau-West endpoint. In 2001 it finally replaced tram line 22 on the core section between Schönefeld and Connewitz, after it had previously taken over its services in evening and weekend traffic. In addition, from the end of 2015 it replaced tram line 9 on the Connewitz, Kreuz - Markkleeberg-West section, after the city council of Markkleeberg had decided to stop line 9 on the Markkleeberger for cost reasons and the decrease in passengers since the opening of the city tunnel in 2013 To let the urban area circulate. Only articulated buses are used on line 70.
  • Line 74 runs from Lindenauer Markt in the west of the city via Schleußig, the Südvorstadt, the old exhibition grounds, Stötteritz to Holzhausen in the south-east of Leipzig, with every second bus ending at Naunhofer Straße. From Monday to Friday, these buses, known as line 74E, will continue to run on line 76 towards Probstheida and Herzzentrum. Lines 60 and 74 run parallel between Schleußig, Rödelstraße and Südvorstadt, which means that a five-minute cycle can be implemented on this section. On Sundays and public holidays, line 74 continues from Lindenauer Markt as line 130 to Rückmarsdorf. In principle, only normal buses are used.
  • Line 80 runs as a west-north tangent between Thekla and the Lindenau bus station, with every second bus coming from Thekla already ending in Wahren. In Thekla, line 80E is combined with lines 81 and 82 and thus offers a continuous connection from the city of Taucha or from the Leipzig districts of Plaussig and Portitz to Wahren. Since line 82 is in turn linked to line 86 at the BMW plant Monday through Saturday, there are trips during this time on which the line number is changed twice. Late in the evening and early on the weekend, individual trips on line 80 are also combined with line 60 at the Lindenau bus station. Line 80 runs between Wahren and Leutzsch through the Leutzscher Holz, a wooded area of the Leipzig floodplain forest . It also stops at the Auensee , a local recreation area with the culture and concert hall and the park railway . Line 80 and the lines connected to it are mostly served by normal buses, only on weekdays school traffic requires the use of articulated buses on some routes. Line 80 carried the letter W until 1997 based on the western bypass, which is still used in everyday life to this day. In the 1960s, it was one of the main lines that was served by double-decker buses. From April 30, 2011 to December 13, 2013 line 80E ran as a replacement for the temporarily suspended S-Bahn line 1 from Wahren via Leutzsch, Schönau, Grünau to Lausen. At the same time line 80 became the S-Bf. Plagwitz extended. Since December 14, 2014, line 80 has ended again at the Lindenau bus station after the renovation of Lützner Strasse was completed.
  • Line 90, which was referred to as Line N until 1997, runs through the northern districts of Leipzig from east to northwest. It begins at the Paunsdorf Center , a shopping center on the Paunsdorf / Sommerfeld suburb and ends in Wahren. The most important points along line 90 are the Paunsdorf Center, the Sachsentherme adventure pool, the Leipzig Science Park, the districts of Schönefeld, Eutritzsch and Gohlis / Möckern, the Federal Employment Agency and the eco-pool in Lindenthal. Every second bus coming from Paunsdorf as line 90E ends at Slevogtstraße in Möckern, so that the rest of the line via Lindenthal to Wahren is only served every 20 or 30 minutes. The section between the Paunsdorf Center and the Paunsdorf tram station, which is particularly important for shopping traffic, is not served on Sundays, public holidays and in the evening. Apart from a few courses that are particularly popular with school children, normal buses are predominantly used on line 90.

Other city bus routes (routes 8 - 91)

  • Bus line 8 only runs on Sunday mornings and early Sunday evenings outside the operating times of tram line 8 and connects the central Schönauer Ring stop with the tram terminus Grünau-Nord as part of a ring trip. A Solaris Urbino 8.6 or MB Sprinter minibus is generally used here.
  • Line 61 connects the Leipzig districts of Schönau, Grünau and Lausen with the Markranstadt districts of Göhrenz, Kulkwitz, Quesitz, Thronitz, Räpitz, Seebenisch and Schkeitbar every hour. On weekdays, it is reinforced by route 161 on the central section between Schönau and Göhrenz to a 30-minute cycle. Since this is not in use on weekends, line 61 then runs every 30 minutes between Schönau and Lausen, Wolkenweg. While normal buses are predominantly used on weekdays, midibuses are used during off-peak times and on Sundays.
  • Line 62 is the western tangential line connecting Böhlitz-Ehrenberg with Lausen every 30 minutes. Within the Böhlitz-Ehrenberg district of Leipzig, it performs the tasks of a local bus and is there for the tram line 7 that runs here. From Monday to Saturday, every second trip on line 62 runs on Selliner Straße, connecting the local health center. Line 62 only runs between Böhlitz-Ehrenberg, Breitscheidhof and Burghausen in daily evening traffic as well as on Sundays and public holidays. Mainly normal buses are used; Deviations from this concern school traffic with an articulated bus course in the morning as well as Sundays and public holidays, on which an MB Sprinter drives on the then shortened line. Line 62 was created on October 10, 2010 as the significantly upgraded successor to bus line 129. The Großer Marktweg and Löwen-Center stops have only been served in the direction of Lausen since November 26, 2018.
  • Line 63, which was referred to as line 119 until October 9, 2010, runs every 20 or 40 minutes on weekdays with a midibus as a ring line between the tram terminus Knautkleeberg , Hartmannsdorf and the Thomas-Müntzer-Siedlung. Line 63 runs clockwise from the start of operations until the morning, and counterclockwise from midday until the end of operations. It runs to Rehbach every hour. On school days, some journeys continue to the terminal in Knauthain, Seumestrasse . It is operated as ALITA on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays .
  • The "Grünolino" (line 66) has been running on a ring line as a district bus with an MB Sprinter through Schönau and Grünau since March 19, 2011. Every hour from Monday to Saturday, from April 30, 2011 to December 14, 2013 as a replacement for the discontinued S-Bahn line 1 even every half-hour, it connects the most important shopping centers, the community office and the medical centers with the transfer stations and residential areas in Leipzig's largest District.
Also Midi buses are of the type on passenger weak lines such as 87 (and 88) Solaris 8.6 Urbino used
  • The 67 bus connects the residential areas in the Leutzsch district and runs every 20 or 30 minutes between Leutzsch town hall and the tram station at the former Leutzsch train station. Line 67 is aligned with tram line 7 and for this reason was renumbered from line 68 to 67 on October 10, 2010. It was created as a replacement for the discontinued tram line 27 on the section only served by it from Leutzsch town hall to Leutzsch tram station through Rathenaustraße. At 1.9 km, the line is the shortest daily line of the LVB and usually runs with an MB Sprinter or a Solaris Urbino 8.6.
MB O405 GN (car 317) as line 72 in the bus turning point Paunsdorf street station, in the background the old water tower Paunsdorf
  • Lines 72 and 73 overlap between the main station and Mölkau at 10- or 15-minute intervals and, in addition to line 89 and the Nightliners, are the only bus routes that use the main station forecourt . While line 72 runs from Mölkau via Engelsdorf to Paunsdorf, line 73 runs between Baalsdorf and Sommerfeld via the very rural districts of Kleinpösna , Hirschfeld and Althen in Leipzig . It drives between Althen and Sommerfeld via the Dreiecksiedlung junction in the Panitzsch district of Borsdorf and thus leaves the city of Leipzig for a short time for a stop. Thus, the line 73 on the journey between Baalsdorf and Sommerfeld is more like a regional bus line. With the exception of Sundays and public holidays, only articulated buses run on both lines. Between the main train station and Anger-Crottendorf, both lines represent the successor to tram line 2, which ran here until 1997. Their predecessors were the lines M and Z to Engelsdorf and Baalsdorf via Mölkau, which in turn took the tram line through Täubchenweg, which was closed in 1946 and which was previously off the line 20 as well as the line E, which served the discontinued end section of tram line 2 between Paunsdorf and Engelsdorf since 1974.
  • Line 75 is a city bus with regional character on its outer branch to Naunhof and runs Monday to Friday in the peak hours within Leipzig between Probstheida and Liebertwolkwitz, sometimes every 10 or 20 minutes. The floodplain settlement of the community Großpösna is still served at relatively frequent intervals, while the subsequent rural route of line 75 to Naunhof is only served every hour on weekdays. Apart from a few school trips with articulated buses, only normal buses are used here. Line 75 at the central Probstheida stop is aligned with tram line 15 and was therefore renumbered from line 171 to 75 on October 10, 2010. In addition to line 65, it is one of the two city bus lines that run through three MDV tariff zones. In the Meusdorf – Liebertwolkwitz, Störmthaler Straße section, it replaces the end section of tram line 15, which was closed in 1971.
  • As a neighborhood bus, line 76 connects the central Probstheida stop with the Leipzig Heart Center every 20 or 30 minutes and runs through the Franzosenallee residential area. In Probstheida this line is aligned with tram line 15. Since the timetable change in December 2017, the buses have been running from Probstheida on Mondays to Fridays to Naunhofer Straße and there switch to line 74E to Lindenauer Markt. At the weekend, the journeys in Probstheida are linked to route 75, so that their vehicles are also used here.
  • Line 77 is a relatively new line that was introduced on October 10, 2010 as a compromise to the discontinued line 90 within the Schönefeld-Ost residential area. As a district bus, this line connects the districts of Schönefeld, Schönefeld Ost, Sellerhausen and Stünz . It is only in use Monday to Saturday in daytime traffic and runs every hour with a Solaris Urbino 8.6 midibus.
  • Line 79 runs tangentially every 20 or 30 minutes between Thekla, Mölkau, Stötteritz, Lößnig and the S-Bf. Connewitz. It is only used in daytime traffic and is in the summer months on weekends from S-Bf. Connewitz extended to the Cospudener See. Apart from a school course with articulated vehicles, only normal buses are used. This line, which was only introduced in 1997, has no predecessor in the previous network.

  • Lines 81 and 82 are always combined with line 80 in Thekla, which is why they are shown in the line network plan with the line color of line 80. Both lines run parallel between Thekla and Portitz and offer a 20- or 30-minute cycle. Line 81 continues to the city of Taucha, while line 82 leads over the pond settlement to the Plaussiger industrial area. Line 82 runs Monday to Saturday in daytime traffic to the BMW plant, where it is combined with line 86. During this time, direct journeys between Wahren and Messe station are offered with two line changes 80/82/86 via Thekla and the BMW plant. Line 81 is only in use in daytime traffic until around 8 p.m. and line 82 also only runs to Portitz, Teichsiedlung, in late and early weekend traffic. Apart from school courses with articulated buses, the use of vehicles is mainly determined by normal buses.
  • Line 83 runs every 30 minutes on weekdays as a neighborhood bus with a midibus between Thekla and Plaußig, industrial area on Göteborger Straße. At the weekend it is only operated as an ALITA.
  • Line 85 runs Monday to Saturday with a normal bus every hour between Gohlis-Süd and Sachsenpark, a shopping park in the Seehausen district not far from the exhibition center .
  • Line 86 has a line number for city bus lines, but in the extreme northern parts of Leipzig it is partly like a regional bus line. As a bus, it only runs from Monday to Saturday (as ALITA on late, Sunday and public holidays) and connects the BMW plant with the S-Bf. Leipzig Fair. In addition, some special trips (some as ALITA) are only offered for employees of the BMW plant and the DB Schenker logistics center, some of which start directly at the main train station, east side. Line 86 is at the S-Bf. Fair u. a. Aligned to tram line 16 and for this reason was renumbered from line 84 to 86 on October 10, 2010. At the BMW plant, central building, it is mostly combined with line 82 and accordingly with normal and articulated buses.
  • Lines 87 and 88 connect the districts of Wahren, Lindenthal, Breitenfeld and Wiederitzsch with each other every hour. Both lines run parallel between Wahren and Lindenthal through the Trift settlement. Line 87 runs from Lindenthal, An der Windmühle to the tram terminus Gohlis, Landsberger Straße and on via Wiederitzscher Bahnhofstraße and the center of Wiederitzsch to Wiederitzsch-Nord, while line 88 drives this destination from Lindenthal, An der Windmühle via Breitenfeld. In Wiederitzsch-Nord both lines are linked, so that a ring trip is created. On Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, only line 87 operates and line 88 is not in use. Both normal and midibuses are used.
  • Line 89 is special in that it is the only line that runs through the center of Leipzig and the pedestrian zones there. As the direct successor to tram line 24, which was discontinued in 1999, it opens up the music district and finally ends at Connewitzer Kreuz. It bears its line number based on the turning point of 1989 and is on the move every 15 minutes every day. As a rule, the MAN hybrid buses and the electric bus are used here.
  • Since December 14, 2014, line 91 has been the successor to line 190, connecting the Wahren tram terminal via the Wahren S-Bahn station with the freight center and the Porsche factory in Leipzig. From there every second bus continues to run as line 190 to Radefeld and is still operated by Autobus Webel. Within the city of Leipzig, Autobus Webel carries out these journeys on behalf of the LVB, while the repeater journeys that end at the Porsche plant as line 91E are operated directly by the LVB. Line 91 runs every half hour on weekdays during the day and every half hour in the evening and on weekends when shifts change in the Porsche factory, mostly with articulated buses.

Regional bus lines (lines 108 - 176)

Line 108 runs every hour between Probstheida and Markkleeberg, S.-Bf. via Wachau and the Leinestrasse. In the evening and weekend traffic, line 108 only runs between Probstheida and Wachau , and on Sundays only as ALITA. Until December 2015, this line had a different route and ran between Wachau and Markkleeberg-West via Markkleeberg-East and on to Großstädteln. It also served to connect the two Markkleeberg districts. This route was taken over by the newly introduced bus route 106 operated by Regionalbus Leipzig.

Line 130 opens up the Rückmarsdorf district every half hour from Strbf. Angerbrücke over the Merseburger Strasse. From Monday to Friday in daytime traffic, line 130 continues from Rückmarsdorf to the Frankenheim industrial park; During peak hours, every second bus is tied through to Markranstädt station. It travels through the Dölzig district of Schkeuditz and thus briefly touches the northern Saxony district . On Saturdays, line 130 only runs in the evening, as line 131, which runs in parallel every 30 minutes, is sufficient to serve Rückmarsdorf during daytime traffic. On Sundays and public holidays, line 130 is connected to line 74 at Lindenauer Markt, creating a continuous connection from Holzhausen via Südvorstadt and Schleußig to Rückmarsdorf.

Line 131 operates as "EXPRESS-LINER" and connects Leipzig with the Nova shopping center in Günthersdorf and the city of Merseburg in Saxony-Anhalt. It runs for the most part as a replacement for the former Merseburg – Leipzig-Leutzsch railway line every half hour from Monday to Saturday. Sundays and public holidays are only offered every two hours. Line 131 is the only LVB line that connects the tram companies of LVB and HAVAG (in Merseburg). It is operated jointly by Leobus and the Saxony-Anhalt PNVG Merseburg-Querfurt.

With the exception of a few school trips, which are carried out in the morning with a midibus and in the afternoon by taxi companies, line 162 only runs as ALITA every day. It connects the residential estate "Florian Geyer" to the Großzschocher district and the lines 3 and 65 that run there.

Line 172 creates a tangential connection between Engelsdorf, Mölkau, Holzhausen, Liebertwolkwitz and Meusdorf, which is only offered every hour on weekdays, and has its southern end point in Wachau. On school days, individual trips also run via Zweenfurth to Borsdorf.

Lines 173, 175 and 176 connect the city of Taucha ( Northern Saxony district) with the municipality of Borsdorf, Leipzig-Hohenheida and Leipzig-Sommerfeld. All three lines carry out urban transport tasks within the city of Taucha, for this the lines 173 and 175 run via the Taucha market. They meet at the stops Taucha, Klebendorfer Straße and Taucha, Lindnerstraße ; The tram line 3 (terminus Taucha, An der Bürgerruhe ) and line 81 also stop here. Line 173 runs as a fast feeder between Taucha and Borsdorf via the Plösitz district of Taucha. At the S-Bf. Borsdorf, it is geared towards the S1, RE50 and RB110. Line 175 runs between Taucha and Borsdorf via the Wachbergsiedlung in the Dewitz district of Taucha as well as through the towns of Sehlis and temporarily Cunnersdorf. Night traffic - Nightliner

In August 1998, a special night bus network was introduced, completely reorganizing night traffic, which until then had mostly been handled by trams. At the easily noticeable times 1.11, 2.22 and 3.33, nine nightliners depart from the main train station and run through the city in a star shape.

The system was so popular that at the weekend the Solo buses were replaced by articulated buses . Later, some lines at 1:11 were strengthened by trams moving in, the N9 line partly by a second bus that traveled on a shortened route. In December 2004, the N10 bus line was introduced between the main train station and Zwenkau, which only ran on weekends and holidays. With the connections at 1.11 and 2.22, it ensured a connection between the service area of Leobus in the Leipzig district (especially the city of Zwenkau) to Leipzig city center. It was also able to complement the N9 line, which is in great demand here, along Karl-Liebknecht-Straße. At connection 3.33, the N10 only ran in the city of Leipzig to the Dölitz tram station. When the regional network was handed over to PVM on December 13, 2013, line N10 was discontinued and the journeys in the section between Markkleeberg and Zwenkau were integrated into the timetable for line 100.

On April 2, 2006, the night bus offer was significantly expanded. In addition to the previous trips, additional departures 1.45 and 3.00 from the main station were set up on the nights from Friday to Saturday, from Saturday to Sunday and before public holidays on the lines N1 to N9. These additional trips are only offered within the city of Leipzig and therefore end at the city limits; they are also marked with an E after the line number. This means that there is almost a 30-minute cycle on these nights. Since December 11, 2011, the buses to connection 1.45 have been running on the normal route, so that the E-lines only run at 3.00 am and only in the landward direction.

Since December 15, 2013, line 10 has been running a night tram line for the first time in 15 years. It was intended to reinforce the N9 night bus line and at the same time ensure the connection to Karl-Liebknecht-Strasse during its complex redesign when the street is closed to bus traffic.

On April 1, 2018, another night tram line was set up with the N17 line. It runs daily between Paunsdorf Nord and Lausen and thus serves the eastern section of day line 7 and the western section of line 1. This means that nine night bus and one night tram line run daily, and one further bus and one tram line are also used on the weekend nights.

The nightliners are internally referred to as lines 401 to 409 (i.e.: N1 = 401 etc.). In addition, buses run as e-cars from the Paunsdorf and Angerbrücke tram stations to the 1.11 main train station; these trips are internally referred to as line 315 (Angerbrücke) and 307 (Paunsdorf). They serve to deliver vehicles to the hunt group and at the same time take over the onward transport of the passengers of the tram trains arriving.

Bus routes from other transport companies

In the area of the city of Leipzig, there are also some regional bus routes from other MDV transport companies, some of which were also operated by Leobus GmbH before and therefore do not have a number pad that is clearly separated from the Leobus lines.

Line 107 plays a special role. It was first built in 1956 as a replacement for the Gaschwitz – Meuselwitz railway line, which was interrupted by the Zwenkau open-cast lignite mine between Gaschwitz and Zwenkau, as trolleybus line C Connewitz, Kreuz – Zwenkau Markkleeberg West, later the Leipzig Arthur-Hoffmann-Straße. Therefore, discounts of the German railroad passenger tariff were recognized on this line, although it belonged to the LVB network. In 1972, due to the progressive dismantling in the Zwenkau mine, trunk road 2 and thus the trolleybus route were also interrupted. The necessary diversion continues to this day via Zöbigker, Gaschwitz and Großdeuben. In the 1970s, it was not possible to decide to electrify this much longer route. The line was taken over by Kraftverkehr Leipzig, it was given the line number S-107.

Line 1 is a special line. It operates as a shopping line between the tram terminal in Meusdorf and the Pösna-Park in Großpösna and thus parallel to line 75. The transport is free of charge, the service is provided on behalf of the Pösna-Park. For this reason, line 1 in the direction of Pösna-Park only serves the stops to get on, in the direction of Meusdorf only to get off. This line only runs on Thursdays, Fridays and Sunday shopping.

history

From 1913 to 1914 there was regular service with double-decker buses in Leipzig. The buses operated by Leipziger Allgemeine Kraftomnibus AG ran on five lines . On the occasion of the outbreak of the First World War, however, the vehicles had to be delivered to the army administration. The city's first bus service ended on August 12, 1914. The city's Große Leipziger Straßenbahn AG , which also operated the tram lines, started its own bus service on February 27, 1925, initially with feeder lines from the surrounding towns of Dosen, Lindenthal and Markranstädt to the tram. From July 15, 1927, a bus line, initially designated as line 25 and later as line A, ran from the Meyerschen houses in Kleinzschocher (near Hermann-Meyer-Strasse) via Adler, Schleußiger Weg, Bayrische Strasse to the main station. At the end of the year it was shortened to Kronprinz- / Bayrische Strasse (today Kurt-Eisner- / Arthur-Hoffmann-Strasse). It became the busiest line in the network and is still part of lines 60 and 74 today. On October 7, 1928, the following bus lines existed:

There were also regional bus routes via Rückmarsdorf to Merseburg, via Gautzsch, Zwenkau and Pegau to Groitzsch, from Großzschocher via Knauthain, Hartmannsdorf and Eythra to Zwenkau, from Probstheida via Dosen, Wachau and Göhren to Gruna, from Markranstädt via Kulkwitz, Knautnaundorf and Eythra to Zwenkau, and once a day from Leipzig via Borna to Chemnitz.

The urban bus routes were designated with letters from the end of 1928. Trolleybuses ran on Line A from July 29, 1938 . The timetable of June 1, 1939 provided for the following bus routes:

S. omnibus Gohlis, Lothringer / Landsberger Straße - Chausseehaus - Central Station - Peterssteinweg - Connewitzer Kreuz Express bus to relieve the tram

With the outbreak of the Second World War only three months later, lines D, L, N and S were discontinued and lines F were shortened to the Wahren – Lindenthal section and H to the Stötteritz – Holzhausen section. On the other hand, the carriage sequences on lines C and P were condensed because there were armaments factories on these routes. Despite the shortage of vehicles, a new line N was set up in March 1941 between the Möckern tram station and Thekla using the current line 80. It connected the Gohlis barracks with the two arms industry lines C and P, but had to be closed in September 1941 due to a lack of fuel. Shortly thereafter, line G between Lindenau and Miltitz, Mühle was electrified and became the company's second trolleybus line. In 1943 there were even briefly passing wagons from Miltitz to line A in Südvorstadt, which initially operated as line R. With the beginning of the bombing war, the bus routes only ran in rush hour traffic. In April 1945 the bus service ended due to the war.

As early as May 23, 1945, the O-bus line A was partially able to operate again. It was not until 1951 that almost all pre-war connections were offered again. The following lines operated on October 1, 1953:

In addition, overland lines operated by VEB Kraftverkehr Leipzig to Merseburg (line 968), Zwenkau (line 969 from Knautkleeberg, line 970 from Connewitz, Kreuz), Borna (line 972) and Kitzscher (line 973).

Another trolleybus line C, part of today's line 107, ran between Leipzig and Zwenkau from 1956 to 1972. In the 1960s and 1970s, some tram routes were shut down and replaced by bus routes. The trolleybus ran through Leipzig until May 31, 1975, most recently on line B to Markranstädt. In the course of history, all letters from A to Z were occupied by bus routes, but never at the same time. The most short-lived line was the Y, which ran as a tramway service between Schönau and Miltitz until the tram opened there. On October 5, 1997, the letter lines were redrawn to the numbers 54 to 90 and 163 to 177. The line numbers 50 to 59 were used for night and low-load lines, including tram and bus routes. Lines 56, 57 and 58 were served by trams. At that time the following lines were in operation:

The LVB completely redesigned the bus route network on October 10, 2010. On the one hand, several districts such as Stünz and the Breitscheid settlement in Böhlitz-Ehrenberg were newly developed, on the other hand, the clocks were condensed on many outer lines and the routes and line numbers of several lines changed.

On February 21, 2011, the LVB announced that a new bus line 66 under the name "Grünolino" will be introduced on March 19. The neighborhood bus connects all important points of contact in the Grünau development area, such as the various shopping centers and the Citizens' Office on the Ratzelbogen, with the area's tram and S-Bahn stops. A specially procured minibus with 15 seats drives the ring line every hour.

As a replacement for the S-Bahn line 1, which had been discontinued until the opening of the city tunnel , line 80 was extended to Plagwitz and Lausen on April 30, 2011 and line 66 was compressed to every half hour.

The LVB has been offering another rail replacement service since November 25, 2012. After the railway line from Sellerhausen to Markkleeberg was temporarily shut down due to construction work in connection with the city tunnel, the 70 now runs every 30 minutes via Connewitz to Markkleeberg-West. On the same day, line 77 was extended beyond Stannebeinplatz to Fliederhof. The commuter traffic line 74E, which previously ran between Schleußig, Karlsbrücke and Stötteritz, has been running between Lindenauer Markt and the Technical City Hall since that day.

Some lines were handed over to the Personenverkehrsgesellschaft Muldental mbh from December 15, 2013 and have not been operated by Leobus since then. In detail, this concerns the following lines:

It runs on weekdays in daytime traffic and daily at the change of shift. From the timetable change on December 14, 2014, line 190 ends at the GVZ and line 190E was renamed line 91 at the same time. The previous journeys of line 190 via S-Bf. Lützschena to Wahren is no longer applicable, but line 91 now runs every half hour and partially in carriage through line 190.
