The Evangelical Parish Church of the Holy Trinity is a church building in Dermbach in the Wartburg district in Thuringia that characterizes the locality .

History and architecture

The oldest part of the building is the church tower , it used to be used as a watch tower . The octagonal bell chamber is crowned with a Welschen hood . The previous building was under the patronage of Bartholomew, a stone of this church with the designation 1489 has been preserved on the northwest corner of the nave . The new church was built in 1714 on the foundations of its predecessor, which was demolished in 1713 due to dilapidation, in the style of the peasant baroque . On the south side of the church there are two beautiful portals in a simple baroque style. The building was extensively renovated from 1985 to 1987. The plastered building is contrasted in color by corner blocks and frames. The aedicula portal on the south side has a segmented arched gable, the other portal is crowned with a triangular gable.

A coffered wooden barrel vault was drawn into the interior . Because of the three-sided galleries, the hall has a three-aisled effect. The organ loft, which is drawn in semicircular, stands in the rectangular choir .

Furnishing

The altar, the pulpit , the organ, the baptismal font and the lectern in different Baroque forms are arranged axially.

  • In the architectural structure of the pulpit altar are the carved figures of the apostles John and Peter. A crucifixion group with Mary, Mary Magdalene and two mercenaries serves as the crowning point.
  • The organ prospectus , a work by Johann Casper Beck from 1754, is crowned with two trumpet angels and richly decorated. The wooden pipes are set so that a metal imitation is achieved. The organ was rebuilt by Orgelbau Waltershausen GmbH in 2004 in the baroque case described.
  • The lectern is marked 1754 and adorned with a kneeling angel.
  • The baptismal font was probably made in the 18th century, the Gothic -looking ornaments were painted on at a later time.
  • The late Gothic Last Supper relief from around 1475 comes from the former Annenkapelle in Hartschrecken , it was colored in later times and is considered the oldest Rhön carving of the 15th century. It hangs over the sacristy.
  • The offering box was made in 1685.
  • The epitaph of the bailiff Albert Eberlein is from 1723.
  • Various tombstones from the 17th and 18th centuries have been preserved.
  • A stone figure of Johannes Nepomuk stands on the cemetery wall , it was created in 1718. Many assumptions that it was created for the old field bridge are therefore a misunderstanding, as it had been on the cemetery mauet for 73 years when it was built.
