Heinrich Christian Friedrich Schumacher
Heinrich Christian Friedrich Schumacher , also Heinrich Christian Friederich Schumacher (born November 15, 1757 in Glückstadt , † December 9, 1830 in Copenhagen ) was a German botanist , physician and malacologist (molluscologist). Its official botanical author's abbreviation is “ Schumach. "
Live and act
After his school days in Rendsburg , he worked there as a military surgeon at the age of 16 before starting his studies at the Theatro Anatomica-Chirurgicum in Copenhagen . After graduating in 1779 , he began botanical studies under the guidance of Christian Friis Rottbøll and Martin Vahl .
Schumacher described a variety of West African plants on the basis of the collections and notes by Peter Thonning . In 1808 he was elected a corresponding member of the Bavarian Academy of Sciences . In 1814 he was elected a member of the Leopoldina .
Dedication names
The genus Schumacheria Vahl of the Dilleniaceae plant family was named in his honor.
