Heinrich Christoph Karl Hermann Reichsgraf von Wylich and Lottum (born January 8, 1773 in Kleve , † February 8, 1830 in Berlin ) was a Prussian lieutenant general .

Life

origin

His parents were the later general of the cavalry Friedrich Albrecht Carl Hermann von Wylich and Lottum (1720-1797) and his wife Sophie Beate, born von Schlichting (* August 8, 1736, † October 28, 1801).

Military career

In January 1786 he joined his father's “von Lottum” dragoon regiment , to which he belonged for the next 30 years. He rose to colonel by December 1813 and took part in the campaign in Holland and against the French Republic. In the Fourth Coalition War in 1806, the regiment almost dissolved. The rest of them had to lay down their arms near Lüneburg , only 180 men strong. During the winter of 1806/07, Lottum and several other officers collected two weak squadrons of 60 men each from the Ranzionirts near Danzig , which were then used to re-form the regiment after the surrender of Danzig. It was formed on August 29, 1807 and was called the "Prince Wilhelm" Dragoon Brigade. During the Wars of Liberation Lottum was the commander of the regiment, which distinguished itself by name at Dennewitz . But he also fought at Großbeeren and Leipzig . In 1814 he was military governor of Brabant and Flanders and in 1815 commanded a cavalry brigade of the 3rd Army Corps, with which he fought at Ligny and Wavre . His achievements were awarded by the award of both classes of the Iron Cross as well as the Russian Order of St. Anne II. Class and the Order of St. Vladimir III. Appreciated class.

After the peace, Lottum was inspector of the Landwehr in the Arnsberg district , came to Danzig in January 1816 as commander of the 2nd cavalry brigade, was commander of the cavalry brigade of the army corps in 1817 and major general in 1819 . In 1820 he was commander of the 2nd Cavalry Brigade in the 1st Army Corps and in 1823 he was transferred to Königsberg as commander of the 1st Division . In 1829 he became lieutenant general. Lottum was appointed commander of the 6th Division and commander of Torgau on November 28 of the same year . On the way there he came to Berlin at the end of December, fell seriously ill and died on the night of February 7th to 8th, 1830.

Freemasons

Von Wylich and Lottum was a Freemason and from 1824 until his death a member of the Zum Todtenkopf lodge in Königsberg.
