Friedrich Albrecht Carl Hermann Reichsgraf von Wylich and Lottum (born April 20, 1720 in Anklam ; † March 3, 1797 in Berlin ) was a Prussian general of the cavalry , chief of the Dragoon Regiment No. 1 and Canon of Halberstadt.

Life

origin

Friedrich came from the old Klevian noble family of Wylich and Lottum . He was the second son of General Johann Christoph von Wylich and Lottum and his wife Hermine Alexandrine, née Freiin von Wittenhorst-Sonsfeld (born September 4, 1685, † April 23, 1745).

Military career

Lottum was in 1737 cornet in the cuirassier regiment "Götz" and in 1745 lieutenant . During the First and Second Silesian Wars , Wylich and Lottum took part in the battles near Chotusitz , Hohenfriedberg , Soor , Katholisch-Hennersdorf and Kesselsdorf . On July 14, 1753, Friedrich II handed him over to Halberstadt . In August 1755 he became staff assistant master and in September of the following year Rittmeister .

In the Seven Years' War Lottum fought near Lobositz , Prague , Kolin , Roßbach , Leuthen , Zorndorf , Hochkirch , Liegnitz and Torgau . He was also in the sieges of Prague, Olomouc, Dresden and Scheidnitz as well as the battles at Jägerndorf, Hoyeswerde, Troppau, Schweidnitz, Langensalza, Wahlstadt monastery, Leutmannsdorf and Reichenbach.

It was captured during the Battle of Breslau in 1757, but was replaced again in 1758. In 1758 he was awarded the order Pour le Mérite for his bravery in the Battle of Zorndorf and became a major in the same year . In 1763 Lottum was promoted to commander of the regiment. In 1769 he became a lieutenant colonel , in 1772 a colonel and in June 1774 chief of the "Zastrow" dragoon regiment. On August 17, 1777 he became major general and was in Prince Heinrich's army during the War of the Bavarian Succession in 1778/79 . In the meantime promoted to lieutenant general on May 20, 1787 , his regiment was sent from Berlin and Magdeburg to Wesel during the unrest in Holland in 1787 . The troops gathered there were under the command of the Duke of Braunschweig. When the troops were marched to Kleve on September 13, 1787 , Lottum led the second column and crossed the Rhine to Waterford near Arnhem . The revolt soon ended and the troops returned. The general stayed in Holland until the beginning of 1788.

King Friedrich Wilhelm II made Lottum Knight of the Order of the Black Eagle in 1791 . On December 28, 1794, he became the general of cavalry to leave, and went on 16 January 1795 in pension .

family

He was married to Sophie Beate von Schlichting (* August 8, 1736, † October 28, 1801). She was the daughter of District Administrator Alexander von Schlichting. The couple had the following children:
