Henry III. (Carinthia)
Henry III. von Carinthia (* around 1050; † December 4, 1122 ) from the noble family of Eppenstein was Count of Eppenstein , from 1077 to 1093 Margrave of Carniola , from 1077 to 1093 Margrave of Friuli , from 1077 (1086?) to 1093 Margrave of Istria , from 1090 to 1122 Duke of Carinthia and Margrave of Verona , from 1076 (1090?) to 1101/02 Vogt of Aquileia and Vogt of Moosburg .

Life
Heinrich was the third son of Markwart IV of Eppenstein and the Liutbirg von Plain , daughter of Count Liutold II.
When his brother Liutold died childless in 1090 , he was entrusted with the Duchy of Carinthia by Emperor Heinrich IV . Because of the creeping alienation of Liutold from the emperor in recent years, Heinrich III. In 1122, a year after the death of his brother Ulrich, Heinrich also died; with him the Eppenstein family died out, who owned properties from the Semmering to the Tagliamento . He is buried in the St. Lambrecht family monastery.
Henry's successor as Duke of Carinthia became his Spanheimer Taufpatenkind Henry IV. , His rich possessions inherited the Traungauer Margrave of Carinthia Mark .

Henry III. was married three times:
- ∞ about 1075: Beatrix († on February 24th), daughter of Count Otto von Dießen
- ∞ after 1096: Liutgard († on July 21st), of unknown origin
- ∞ after 1103: Sophie († May 2, 1154), daughter of Margrave Leopold II from the Babenbergs and Ida of Austria
All three marriages remained childless.
