Heinrich IV of Braunschweig Grubenhagen (* 1460 ; † December 6, 1526 in Salzderhelden ), from the family of the Welfen , was Prince of Braunschweig-Grubenhagen .

Life

Heinrich was the son of Heinrich III. von Braunschweig-Grubenhagen and Margarete, a daughter of the Sagan Duke Johann I and the Scholastika von Sachsen-Wittenberg. He followed after the death of his father in 1464 as Prince of Grubenhagen. Until he came of age in 1479, he was under the tutelage of his uncle Albrecht II. In 1479, he and Albrecht shared the rule. Albrecht received Osterode Castle and Herzberg Castle , Heinrich the Heldenburg . They ruled over the cities of Einbeck and Osterode and Grubenhagen Castle together. After Albrecht's death in 1485, Heinrich became the guardian of his underage cousins. When he died childless in 1526, his cousin Philipp I inherited Grubenhagen.

Heinrich married Elisabeth von Sachsen-Lauenburg († after April 7, 1542) in Einbeck on August 26, 1494, the daughter of Johann IV Duke of Sachsen-Lauenburg and Dorothea von Brandenburg. The marriage remained childless.
