Šentjur pri Celju ( German : Sankt Georgen bei Cilli ) is a municipality in the Spodnja Štajerska region ( Lower Styria ) in Slovenia .

On January 1, 2014, 18,922 people lived in the 222.3 km² community, which consists of 108 villages and hamlets. The main town Šentjur alone has 4723 inhabitants and is 262 m above sea level. The municipality is located 11 km from Celje .

The place was first mentioned in writing in 1340. Starting from the St. George's Church, the village developed rapidly - the traces of human culture go back to the Neolithic .
