Heinrich Jauner

Heinrich Jauner (born May 15, 1833 in Vienna ; † March 11, 1912 there ) was an Austrian medalist and engraver .

Heinrich Jauner's father was the court engraver Franz Jauner (born August 15, 1808 in Nussorf ; † December 15, 1889 in Vienna), who was called "Viennese Cellini " because of his artistry .

His brothers were the actor and opera director Franz von Jauner (1831–1900), the administrative officer August Jauner von Schroffenegg (1835–1907) and the director of the Lower Austrian Provincial Accounting Theodor Jauner (1844–1913). Heinrich Jauner began his artistic career as a student of the painter Ferdinand Waldmüller . However, he soon turned to the art of medals and took over the medal company founded by his father Franz Jauner.

Heinrich Jauner created several personal medals for well-known and high-ranking personalities such as Emperor Franz Joseph I , the family of King George V of Hanover , as well as well-known personalities from Austria-Hungary such as Eduard von Bauernfeld , Hellmesberger, Josef Hyrtl , Franz Liszt , Carl von Rokitansky , Johann Strauss etc. Historical events of the 19th century and the turn of the century were also immortalized on medals.

The emperor awarded him the title of kk court chamber engraver .
