The Heinrich Kopp GmbH is an electrical engineering manufacturer in Kahl am Main in Lower Franconia .

history

The company was founded in Reinheim in the Odenwald in 1927 . The small special factory mainly produced switches for export. In 1934 the company expanded and was relocated to Sonneberg in Thuringia . Up to 85 percent of the articles were exported overseas.

After the Second World War and the expropriation without compensation in the former Soviet occupation zone , a new beginning was attempted in Kleinblankenbach in Lower Franconia . After further stations in nearby Alzenau and Schöllkrippen , today's company premises in Kahl am Main were acquired in 1956 . In the following years, subsidiaries were founded in Austria , the Czech Republic , Hungary and Tunisia .

In 2002, the company then trading under Heinrich Kopp AG was taken over by the US group Actuant from Milwaukee . At the time of the takeover, Kopp had around 1200 employees worldwide.

In 2003 Actuant took over the Dutch market leader Dresco . In 2009, the Actuant electrical segment was consolidated under the umbrella of Kopp Europe ; all European activities are coordinated and controlled centrally within a matrix organization in Kahl am Main.

The Palero Capital , based in Munich took over on 1 March 2011, the Heinrich Kopp GmbH , including the subsidiaries of the Actuant Corporation , which sold its shares in Kopp because of a strategic realignment. The existing management of Kopp is continuing the realignment together with palero capital .

On January 15, 2016, the alfanar group from Saudi Arabia took over all shares in Heinrich Kopp GmbH from palero invest .
