Heinrich Poetter

Heinrich Wilhelm Poetter (born January 26, 1830 in Borgeln near Soest ( Westphalia ), † 1918 in Lichterfelde near Berlin ) was a German Protestant pastor and general superintendent of the church province of Pomerania of the Church of the Old Prussian Union .

Born as the son of the teacher and sexton Johann Heinrich Hermann Poetter and his wife Angeline Schulze, he attended the Soester Archi-Gymnasium and then studied theology in Halle (Saale) . He took his theological exams in Munster .

His first professional assignment was that of a private tutor in Krefeld . He took up his first pastor's position in Heeren near Unna in 1857 , where he worked until 1868. In 1868 Poetter moved to Wesel as a garrison pastor .

In 1874 he received a call to the Church of St. Simeonis in Minden . There he also worked as a garrison pastor. In addition, from 1875 he was part-time government and school councilor in the Minden government , and from 1879, as superintendent, he was still spiritual director of the synod in the church district of Minden .

In 1886 he followed an appointment as general superintendent of the Pomeranian provincial church in Stettin as successor to Albert Sigismund Jaspis . He held this office until his retirement in 1904 and then handed it over to Johannes Büchsel .

Since September 15, 1864 he was married to Charlotte von Bock and Polach , the daughter of an artillery officer. The couple had 15 children. The daughter Jutta Oberin and the son Ernst became head of the Bethanien Deaconess and Hospital in Stettin .
