Heinrich Rixner (born June 8, 1634 in Helmstedt , † December 16, 1692 in Halberstadt ) was a German Protestant theologian.

Life

The son of the Mayor of Helmstatt Jeremias Rixner (* 1599 - January 30, 1657) and his wife Gertrude (* 1605 - April 26, 1678), daughter of the Mayor of Helmstatt Heinrich Ernst and his wife Walpurgis Gärtner, came from an old town councilor, which had its roots in Magdeburg and Helmstedt. In addition to attending school at the city school in his hometown, he was taught by private tutors and attended the convent school in Ilefeld in 1652. On May 25, 1653 he moved to the University of Jena to study philosophy and theology.

He also attended lectures at the theological faculty of Johannes Major , Johannes Musaeus and Christian Chemnitz (1615–1666) and the lectures at the philosophical faculty of Daniel Stahl (1589–1654), Johann Zeisold (1599–1667), Johann Frischmuth (1619–1687) and Paul Slevogt (1596–1655). At that time he had acquired a great deal of knowledge, especially in the field of metaphysics, on which he also held several disputations and on March 27, 1655 advanced to the master's degree in philosophical sciences. In 1656 he traveled to the universities in Leipzig and Wittenberg and returned to Helmstedt through them.

Here he held private lectures, became associate professor of metaphysics on May 24, 1661 , rose to full professor of metaphysics on June 15, 1663 and took over the professorship of physics on May 11, 1664. 1670 he became an associate professor of theology and went after his promotion to the doctorate in theology on 14 January 1673 at a full professorship on. On June 11, 1679 he followed a call as superintendent to Halberstadt and was associated with pastor at the Martinikirche . On May 21, 1683 he was consistorial councilor and general superintendent of the Principality of Halberstadt and the associated counties of Hohnstein and Reinstein.

On July 31, 1665, Rixner married Anna Margarethe, the daughter of the royal Swedish lieutenant colonel Hans Schäfer, in Halberstadt Cathedral. The marriage resulted in two sons and two daughters, who all died young. What is known about the children:
