Heinrich Siegel (* July 12, 1612 in Großpöhla ; † July 16, 1669 there ) was an early modern German entrepreneur . He was a mountain and hammer lord at Siegelhof in Großpöhla, Rittersgrün and Unterblauenthal .

Life

The son of Andreas Siegel , who was Hammerherr zu Mittweida and Großpöhla ( Siegelhof ), and Margaretha geb. Röhling, daughter of the hammer gentleman Johann Röhling from Oberwiesenthal , took over her father's hammer in Großpöhla and enlarged the property. In 1644 there was a dispute about the brewing justice of his hammer mill, which was decided in his favor.

Siegel and Johann Korb received a new privilege in 1654 for the Arnold hammer mill in Rittersgrün. In 1660 he took over the treasure trove of God's gift giving near Lauter / Sa. that he continued to operate.

Christian Lehmann's report on flood damage in 1661 in the Pfeilhammer hammer mill

During the great flood in early August 1661 , Siegelhof's Hammerwerk Siegelhof in Großpöhla suffered damage of 1110 thalers, of which 300 thalers were used to repair the Hohen Ofen , which was sunk in the floods, another 300 thalers at two protective ponds, 100 thalers at the raft pond , 150 thalers at three weirs and three waterfalls that had been torn away. 6 buckets in shock with coal for 60 thalers and raft wood worth 100 thalers were washed away. Heinrich Siegel had to spend a further 100 thalers to remove the sludge in the hut buildings and in the Hammergraben. Christian Lehmann reported on this .

His son Christian, who was born in 1651, fell from his horse on January 29, 1669 and fell so unhappily on his head that the doctors who were summoned could no longer help him. He died in the third hour of the following day. Barely six months later, Heinrich Siegel also died shortly after his 57th birthday. He was buried in the St. Anne's Church in Grünstädtel .

After his death, the Hammerwerk Unterblauenthal officially became his eight children Susanna (⚭ 1664 Heinrich Siegel, son of the owner of the Schönheiderhammer ), Catharina (⚭ 1659 Cornelius Cunigham, deacon in Selva ), Andreas, Rosina (⚭ 1661 David Richter, deacon in Eibenstock ), Regina (⚭ 1663 Tobias Biedermann, “Practicus” of both rights, later among others city judges in Chemnitz and Hammerherr in Großpöhla), Friedrich Siegel (⚭ Maria Catharina, daughter of Hammerherr in Kleinpöhla Hans Heinrich von Elterlein ), Magdalena (⚭ 1668 Ernst Reppel , Erbrichter in Großpöhla) and Dorothea (⚭ 1670 Lic. Christian Friedrich German, decreed rural, official and city physician in Chemnitz). His widow Catharina born Kleinhempel, daughter of the mayor of Preßnitz , whom he married in the church of Grünstädtel, was excluded from the inheritance of this hammer mill.
