Heinrich Straub (clergyman)

Heinrich Straub (born September 12, 1917 in Nuremberg ; † August 27, 2003 in Bamberg ) was a German Roman Catholic clergyman .

Life

Heinrich Straub was ordained a priest in 1947 after military service and imprisonment. He was a chaplain in Erlangen . From 1951 to 1955 he completed a doctorate in canon law (Dr. iur. Can.) At the Collegio Teutonico di Santa Maria dell'Anima in Rome ; he was also vice-rector at “Anima” for three years. He then worked as a parish administrator and religion teacher in the Bamberg diocese. In 1956 he was appointed cathedral vicar and cathedral preacher at Bamberg Cathedral . In 1959 he was appointed official of the Metropolitan Court, later ordinariate councilor and secretary of the vicariate general.

In 1967 Archbishop Josef Schneider appointed him Cathedral Capitular and, in succession to Prelate Alois Albrecht, Vicar General of the Archdiocese of Bamberg. He was a member of the Historical Association of Bamberg (1956–2003) and a member of the association committee from 1967 to 1994.

Heinrich Straub was involved in numerous social projects in the Holy Land . In 1974, Heinrich Straub was appointed Knight of the Order of Knights of the Holy Sepulcher by Cardinal Grand Master Maximilien Cardinal de Fuerstenberg and invested in Düsseldorf on May 4, 1974 by Lorenz Cardinal Jaeger , Grand Prior of the German Lieutenancy . Most recently he was an officer of the order and honorary priority of the Bamberg Commandery of St. Heinrich .
