Heinrich Tillmann

Heinrich Tillmann (born October 10, 1867 in Bremen , † February 1, 1959 in Bremen) was a German engineer and Bremen's senior construction director.

biography

Tillmann was born the son of a businessman in Bremen- Gröpelingen . The father traded in Bremen and in the United States , so that the son also spent many years in San Francisco . He attended the Alte Gymnasium in Bremen and studied civil engineering at the Technical University of Munich , the Technical University of Darmstadt and the Technical University of Berlin .

From 1893 Tillmann worked as an engineer in the road construction department of the building deputation in Bremen. He was involved in the construction of the Great Weser Bridge from 1893 to 1895 . In 1898 he switched to the construction inspection of the free ports in Bremen and participated in measures to expand the wooden port and the overseas port. In 1903 he went to the building inspection for the ports in Bremerhaven and was responsible for the port expansion. In 1903 he was given the management of the construction of the industrial and commercial port and the expansion of Port II in Bremen.

In 1912 Tillmann was appointed a master builder and in 1913 a state building officer. He was involved in the construction of the grain plant in Bremen. In 1920 he was promoted to port construction director and in 1922 to senior construction director for electricity and port construction . He was now in charge of port construction activities in Bremen and Bremerhaven, including the construction of the banana handling facility, the Columbuskaje (1920s), the first Columbus station (also known as the Bahnhof am Meer ) and the Nordschleuse (1927–1931) in Bremerhaven. His early plans for port facilities in Bremen to the left of the Weser have not yet been implemented. These Neustadt ports could only be started in the 1950s.

In 1933 he retired.
