Heinrich Ulmann

Heinrich Ephraim Ulmann (born February 24, 1841 in Weimar ; † November 17, 1931 in Darmstadt ) was a German historian.

The son of the Weimar doctor Claudius Ulmann and grandson of the banker Ephraim Ulmann was a student of Georg Waitz . During his studies in 1860 he became a member of the Germania Jena fraternity . Ulmann took his habilitation in 1867 and taught from 1870 to 1874 as a professor of general history at the University of Dorpat . From 1874 Ulmann taught as a full professor of history at the University of Greifswald . He dealt with the age of Maximilian I , but also with the 19th century. From 1884 he was a corresponding member of the Bavarian Academy of Sciences .

He married Sophie Henle, a daughter of Jacob Henle ; her daughter Marie was the first wife of the physician Werner Kümmel and the mother of the theologian Werner Georg Kümmel .
