Heinrich Waldschmidt

Heinrich Waldschmidt (born April 19, 1843 in Berlin , † July 18, 1927 in Stuttgart ) was a German genre , portrait and history painter from the Düsseldorf School .

Life

Waldschmidt embarked on a career as an officer in the 1st Westphalian Field Artillery Regiment No. 7 and studied painting at the Düsseldorf Art Academy . There he was a student in Karl Müller's class of antiquities in 1871 . In 1872 he traveled to Pernambuco , Brazil, as a painter . He then worked in Weimar , where his son, the later painter and sculptor Arnold Waldschmidt , was born in 1873 , and later in Berlin. He emigrated with his family to Brazil and tried his hand at farming in Bahia , but returned to Germany. In 1894 he lived in Düsseldorf again .
