Heinz-Peter Haustein (born August 10, 1954 in Olbernhau ) is a German politician ( FDP ).

Life and work

After attending a polytechnic high school (POS), Haustein began an apprenticeship as an electrician in 1971 , which he finished in 1973. He then attended an extended secondary school (EOS), where he passed the Abitur in 1976 . In 1979 he became a master of the electrical installation trade and from 1980 to 1985 he completed a distance learning course as an electronics engineer. Haustein worked from 1978 to 1980 as an electrician in the Schwartenberg community and from 1980 to 1985 as the main mechanic at VEB Elektroinstallation Deutschneudorf .

Since July 1986, Haustein has been the owner of two companies in electrical engineering and elevator construction as an independent entrepreneur. Since 2001 he has been managing director of Fortuna Bernstein GmbH , which maintains a show mine in Deutschneudorf.

The father of two is passionately looking for the Amber Room . In this role he also appeared in a television documentary. Regarding the location of the Amber Room, he refers to statements made by his late father, who was an eyewitness to the relocation of amber boxes to Deutschneudorf.

Political party

Haustein became a member of the LDPD in 1980 and has been a member of the FDP since 1990 . Since October 1st, 2007, Haustein has been chairman of the FDP in Deutschneudorf.

MP

Since 1990 Haustein belongs to the district council of the district Marienberg and from the district reform 1994 of the middle Erzgebirgskreis . In the local elections on June 8, 2008, Haustein was elected to the district council of the newly formed Erzgebirgskreis on August 1, 2008 and led the district parliamentary group as parliamentary group leader. He handed over this office to Michael Brändel in February 2010.

From 2005 to 2013 Heinz-Peter Haustein was a member of the German Bundestag . The move took place on the list position 3 of the state list Saxony in the Bundestag . His home constituency was the constituency 162 Freiberg - Middle Erzgebirgskreis . After the Bundestag election in 2009 , Haustein was again a member, but - after the electoral districts were redesigned - for the Erzgebirgskreis I (constituency 165).

In the Bundestag he was spokesman for the parliamentary group for accident insurance policy and a member of the committee for labor and social affairs. After 2009 he was a member of the Budget Committee and an alternate member of the Finance Committee and the Committee on Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection. From February 2010 to September 2013, Haustein was chairman of the German-Czech parliamentary group.

Due to the failure of the FDP to pass the five percent hurdle in the 2013 federal election , he is not a member of the 18th German Bundestag.

Public offices

Haustein was honorary mayor of Deutschneudorf from 1994 to 2015 . On June 7, 2015, he was elected full-time mayor of Olbernhau .
