Max Siegfried Heinz Drache (born February 6, 1929 in Dresden ; † April 26, 1989 in Radebeul ) was a German painter and graphic artist.

Life

Heinz Drache studied from 1948 to 1953 at the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts with Hans Theo Richter , Josef Hegenbarth , Fritz Dähn and Max Erich Nicola , followed by an apprenticeship with Heinz Lohmar for the next two years .

As a freelance artist, Drache was a member of the Association of Visual Artists of the GDR from 1953 . From 1959 to 1981 he worked as a film set designer at the DEFA studio for animated films in Dresden. Among other things, he created the backgrounds for the animated film The Flying Grandfather in 1965 .

From 1981 Drache worked freelance again, he created his works in his studio in Radebeul- Oberlößnitz , in the now listed Villa Eduard-Bilz-Straße 31 . In addition to graphics and paintings, he created numerous murals in companies, schools and other public buildings, such as the warehouse of the VEB coffee and tea , the Oberlößnitz middle school and with W. Rehn in the Dresden Palace of Culture . Paintings and drawings by Heinz Drache can be found in galleries and museums, for example in the National Gallery in Berlin , the Galerie Neue Meister in Dresden, the Kunsthalle Rostock , the Dresden City Museum , the Radebeul Municipal Art Collection and in private collections.

In 1956, on the occasion of the 750th anniversary celebrations, Heinz Drache received the City of Dresden Art Prize and in 1983 the City of Radebeul Art Prize . Further awards were the bronze medal of the International Art Exhibition in Moscow in 1957, the medal of the builders of Dresden city center in 1969 and the Golden Laurel of GDR television in 1973 and 1979.
