Heinz Föppel

Heinz Föppel (born July 9, 1915 in Zeitz ; † November 15, 1983 there ) was a German photographer and university professor .

Life

After graduating from high school in 1934, he began studying mathematics and physics in Leipzig. From 1939 to 1945 he did military service. From 1945 to 1946 he did an apprenticeship in photography in his father's company and passed his master craftsman's examination in 1952 , since then he has worked for calendars, magazines and books. 1952–1953 he worked on the book Meine Bilder vom Darß ; In 1953 he was a craftsman; 1954–1955 followed work on a book about fishing. Until 1962, Heinz Föppel was a freelance photographer in Zeitz, a specialist journalist and photo editor. In 1961 he received a teaching position for photography (portrait, landscape) at the University of Graphic and Book Art in Leipzig and obtained an external diploma as a photographer. From 1962 to 1980, Heinz Föppel was a lecturer and head of the photography department at the College of Graphics and Book Art. In 1968 he was appointed professor and in 1980 he retired .

Exhibition in Greifswald , Rostock , Stralsund , Sassnitz , Schwerin , Güstrow , Wismar , Magdeburg , Leipzig and Altenburg . 1985 “'Early Pictures'. An exhibition on the history of photography ”in Leipzig.
