Heinz Jung
Heinz Jung (born January 22, 1935 in Frankfurt am Main ; † August 19, 1996 ) was a German Marxist sociologist .
Life
Heinz Jung was born into a communist working-class family and became a member of the KPD himself at the age of 14 . His mother sent him to the Wickersdorf Free School Community . After passing high school, he studied economics at the Karl Marx University in Leipzig in 1953 and from 1954 at the Humboldt University in Berlin. Here he completed his studies with a diploma. In Leipzig he was one of Kurt Braunreuther's students and in Berlin with Hans Wagnerand Kurt Braunreuther. In 1957 he went back to the Federal Republic. Since his diploma was not recognized here, he worked as an unskilled worker in the metal industry. Because of his work for the banned KPD, he was sentenced to one year probation. In 1963 he was one of the co-founders of the magazine Marxistische Blätter and from 1968 worked in the DKP . In addition to Josef Schleifstein , Jung was initially deputy head of the Institute for Marxist Studies and Research (IMSF) from 1968, and later, until 1989, its head. He was co-editor of the Marxist Studies Yearbook of the IMSF (1978-1989). In 1989 he founded the magazine Z. Zeitschrift Marxistische Renewal . In 1986 he did his doctorate at the Academy of Sciences of the GDR with the thesis: Deformed Vergesellschaftung. On the sociology of state monopoly capitalism in the FRG . Heinz Jung has published numerous books and articles on economic and sociological topics. In the state elections in Hesse in 1983 , he ran for the DKP in the constituency of Hochtaunus II .
The "Dr. Heinz Jung Foundation" is named after him and promotes "research projects and scientific work in the further development of the philosophical findings of Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels".
