Heinz Stücklen

Heinz Stücklen (born December 23, 1921 in Berlin ; † September 15, 2007 there ) was a German doctor and Berlin local politician ( SPD ).

Life

Heinz Stücklen's father was the District Councilor of Berlin-Steglitz Georg Stücklen (1890–1974) and a cousin of the Federal Post Minister and Bundestag President Richard Stücklen (1916–2002).

Stücklen studied medicine in Berlin and was awarded a doctorate in 1954 with a thesis on the treatment of bladder tumors. med. PhD . In 1959 he was elected to the district councilor for health in the Neukölln district , now a specialist in urology . Before that, he had worked for the SPD as a district councilor in Berlin-Steglitz since 1948. Since 1965 he was deputy district mayor, from 1971 to 1981 district mayor of Berlin-Neukölln. After leaving office, he headed a Berlin hospital and was head of the Berlin regional association of the German Red Cross from 1982 to 1992 .

Honors

Heinz Stücklen was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit 1st Class in 1979 . On September 19, 1994 he was awarded the honorary title of " City Elder of Berlin ".
